Post subject: | Rockies - Red Sox |
I think this layoff will dramatically hurt the Rockies. I also believe that the Red Sox lineup packs a dramatically larger punch than those of the Phillies and D'Backs. Both of these clubs were ice cold at the wrong time, a condition I would not attribute to the excellence of Rockies pitching. I envision the Red Sox pounding Rockies pitching without any degree of mercy. Will the Rockies score some runs? Perhaps. Not enough, however. I predict the Red Sox in 5. (The Rockies will win Game 4 at home) (Come on people! Let's talk baseball! Bring only the finest, premium smack to this dopeness house!) |

the white sox had at least a 5 day layoff in 2005 (for both the ALCS and the WS. maybe not 5 days for the LCS but i know it was more than just a day or 2 off, and it was certainly at least a 5 day layoff for the WS) and they blitzed by houston. the 96 (or 97?) yanks won a shitton of games in the regular season, had a 6 day layoff, then won the WS. the Rox are still too white heat red hot for me to count them out. winning 21 of 22 during any time of the baseball season is amazing, much less october. I'm rooting for Colorado (isn't everyone ?), but I think Boston wins the series in 5 games. |

Love the predicition Roses, but factually speaking the Phils were pretty hot (13-4) prior to playing the Rockies, and the D-backs came off a sweep in NLDS. I see this thing going 6 or 7 games with the Red Sox pitching at home being the difference. 1) I'm pretty concerned with having to sit either Youk or Papi for the games in Denver, and with the way Youk has been hitting, it looks to be Pappi?, right. 2) I'm worried about Manny's defense in LF, which at spacious Coors almost certainly necesitates Coco to play center, taking Ellsbury's bat out of the line up. 3) It concerns me that the Rockies took 2 out of 3 from the Sox in June, in the process hanging 6 ER's on Beckett in 5 IP's, and 5 ER's on Schill in 5 IP's. 4) I'm getting night sweats thinking about game 4 and Wake's knuckler in the thin air of Denver. One of them might actually reach the "rockpile" (the CF upper deck bleachers), if Holliday squares it up. I see the Sox defense costing them at least one game in the series, and at least one of the games being an old fashioned slugfest that goes the Rockies way (see #4 above). I'm hoping that the Rock's long layoff helps the Sox, and that it will take them at least a game to get their timing back. GO SOX!!! |

No, I understand these teams were hot going in. However, their respective failures against the Rockies can only be explained by: 1. The hitting getting cold at an inopportune time; or 2. Rockies pitching. I just can't see it as being Rockies pitching. |

It is pretty funny to look at the names Boston will be starting in this series vs the starting pitching names Colorado has....I am praying for an upset so we don't have to hear ESPN/FOX praising Boston throughout this series. |

I think too many people are overlooking this Rockies team. Like Rob said, the Phillies and Dbacks looked real good before facing them, and what they have been able to accomplish in the last month is insane. I dont think the clock strikes midnight for the Rockies this year. Rockies in 6. |

Rockies in 6. I hope that layoff has cooled them off...Beckett will probably be tough enough on his own. |

Is it wrong to wish for snowstorms or a work stoppage to cancel this Series? I have a serious distaste for both teams, their owners and/or fans and won't watch one single inning. (the Rockies - or at least their owner a bit too 'fundamental', and well... 'Red Sox Nation' simply speaks for itself) |

Why not? Being a Yankee fan, I know you aren't used to seeing good pitching, but the Rockies have led all of MLB in pitching since the end of June. |

Good to have you on board, Francis Albert. As a heavily accented Luis Tiant said in a locally aired hot dog commercial after joining the glorious Yankees: "It's great to be with a wiener." |

Why would the Rockies start a guy who's been out since August in game 4? I know Cook is one of the team veterans, but doesn't it seem like a lot of risk? |

I thought '98 was bad, because the Cubs lost to the team that lost to the team that lost to the team that won the WS. This year, could the Cubs get swept by the team that got swept by the team that got swept by the team that won the WS? |

Look, if the Rockies are gonna get blown out it might as well be game one vs Becket. Had they only given up 3 or 4 runs to the Red Sox they still would have lost. Becket was that good today. I think the Rockies are gonna kill Shilling tomorrow. |

But I still think that he and Gammons are the only baseball on the field guys who are worth a damn, and actually have thoughts. I would keep both of them, and the lovely future Mrs. Dr. Ken. |
