This is what I had expected to happen. He gives Boston one more season and their younger arms (Buchholz and Lester) will have the experience to fully take over in 2009. |

Get out of my head, BD. That's exactly what they are doing. $8 mil for a 3rd starter who has proven to be able to handle the pressure of playing in Boston is a bargain. The Cubs are paying Marquis that much. 2008 Red Sox rotation will be: 1) Beckett 2) DiceK 3) Schill 4) Lester 5a) Bucholz 5b) Wakefield Talking about bargains. Wakefiled has a $4mil perpetual team clause, which means that as long as the Red Sox want him to pitch, he will do so for $4 mil. Not a bad price for a 17 game winner. |
