ESPN reporting Cabera and Willis are both being traded to the Tigers for 6 prospects. |

While the Tigers may have a deal about wrapped up, the White Sox also made a strong push to acquire Miguel Cabrera this afternoon, offering Josh Fields, Gio Gonzalez and either John Danks or Gavin Floyd. Joe Capozzi of the Palm Beach Post thinks that deal is going to happen, while MLB.com is reporting that Cabrera is likely Detroit bound. It's hard to trust a report that rather equates Danks with Floyd. Danks would be the most valuable property the White Sox have to offer, while Floyd just doesn't have a lot of trade value left. It looks like Kenny gave it his best shot. Fields is a no brainer but Gonzalez and Danks? Hard to believe Florida didn't jump at that offer. |

I think we have good prospects (the few that we have), and most teams have better ones, it looks like, including Detroit. |

Just heard that Maybin and 5 other prospects to Marlins for Willis and Cabera to the Tigers. That line up is going to produce some runs if i'm not mistaken Granderson Polanco Guillen Maggs/Inge Cabrera Sheff Pudge/Inge Jones-Thames Renteria And a rotation of... Verlander Bondo Willis Rogers Robertson edit: Inge will platoon with Pudge and Maggs but I hear they are trying to move Thames because of smaller contract. Inge is now a $6 million utility guy. |

Barring something insane happening, I think you are right. |

Not take it off but completely change their approach. Crede should only be moved for prospects or Capuano. There is a reported deal of Konerko to the D-backs for Ownings, Connor Jackson and Pena. Make it. Look to trade Thome immediately. Get anything you can for Contrearas without eating money. Let the kids fight for the starting rotation and let the winners pitch through their problems. See if Dye would be willing to move. Do not purchase a single one of the veteran free agents. |

from espn: How did Cabrera find out he'd been traded? Ozzie Guillen's wife told him. Guillen's wife and Cabrera's wife are close friends. So when Guillen called his wife to tell her that Cabrera had just been traded, she replied: "Guess what? He's sitting right next to me. I'm driving him to the airport." |

As a sox fan, I would have loved to see him come to the south side, but after seeing this deal, I see the reality that they would have never been able to re-sign him. |

A fact is a fact - no way in hell Jerry would have allowed Kenny to spend almost 20M a year for Miggy. |

The Tigers announced that Miguel Cabrera will begin playing first base on a regular basis, with Carlos Guillen moving to third. Sometimes the best trades are the ones you don't make. |

I think he'll be alright. Just having a real bad year. I don't think roids help one find the strike zone. |

He is hurt, but has been hiding it until he got the long term deal. His velocity hasn't been the same in 3 years. I see a trip to Birmingham Alabama in his very near future. As a matter of fact, with his delivery the Marlins should have prepaid for hi TJ surgery back when he came up. |

it strikes me as immensely responsible of the tigers that they'd essentially "re-start" him like this. he's young enough that they may be able to "rebuild" him into the kind of pitcher they need. the tigers are protecting their investment - using him in long relief on the mlb club or letting him waste away at AAA toledo would be a waste of time and money for everyone involved. |
