Post subject: | Tejada to the Astros |
ESPN is reporting that the Orioles traded Miguel Tejada to the Astros for five players (Luke Scott is one of them). As a Cub fan, I'm a little concerned but I still don't think the Astros have enough pitching after Oswalt (unless they played the Cubs for 162 games, then their entire staff would be Cy Young candidates). I actually was holding out hope the Cubs could have gotten him (like last year when there were the Prior to the Orioles rumors). |

Tejada is showing serious signs of being done in the post steroid era. |

the Astros have acquired Miguel Tejada for Luke Scott, Matt Albers, Troy Patton, Dennis Sarfate, and Mike Costanzo. Quote: Patton was ranked their third best prospect by Baseball America, Costanzo sixth. Scott is a cheap quality regular, and Albers was third on the team's 2007 top prospect list.
Looks like the Astros got fleeced. I sure as hell hope the Astros weren't the Crede trade partner that Kenny was working with |

This move doesn't make me nervous at all. He's still a pretty good hitter, but I hope they play him at short instead of Adam Everett. That would be a HUGE downgrade. |

They are used to being a competitor, and they want to get back in the race now, so they had to pay a high price for an All-Star. I'm not too worried. How many Nihon-jin are on their roster? One less than the Cubs. |

Admittedly I don't know a lot about these 5 players they gave up, but it seems pretty ridiculous for the Astros. Are they going to contend next year? I doubt it. His numbers have been slipping too. The Orioles save some money and hope that 1 of 2 of the prospects pan out. It's not like they were going to finish anywhere but 3rd or 4th anyway |

houston may contend. the NL central is still pretty bad overall, and with carlos lee and now tejada in thier lineup, they will score some runs |

Tejada hit .290 with 18hr and 80 rbi in a park that's just as small as the juice box. He'll hit better against NL pitching, but his numbers are sliding faster than Vinny Castilla's did. I don't think his vitamin b-12 shots are working anymore. |

Only 1 player (Patton) is worth a damn. A lineup that has Pence, Berkman, Lee, Tejada will be formidable, especially at home. But.... *in Harry voice* What about the pitching?? |

*in Harry voice* What about the pitching?? I actually think that Luke Scott's numbers in 2008 will be on par with Tejada's production. They damn near were this year and he had 150 fewer AB's. With my Nas hat on, I predict that both Kaz Matsui & Tejada dissapoint for the stros who finish behind the Brewers, Cubs, Cards & Reds. |

AND I lose my opportunity to do the whole "luke i am your father" obnoxious thing every time his name is mentioned during the game. Texans - done. Rockets - why can't mcgrady make it through a season?? |
