I'm posting this because I've noticed we're not getting our hourly Reds update anymore. Is Dustiny already on the hot seat??

The Cincinnati Enquirer reports that the Reds will fire general manager Wayne Krivsky and replace him with Walt Jocketty.

The writing has been on the wall since the team brought in Jocketty as a special adviser last season. Krivsky came to Cincinnati after a long stint as Terry Ryan's right-hand man in Minnesota, but showed a love for veteran mediocrity that didn't mesh especially well with the Reds' young talent and the team has gone just 161-184 (.467) under his watch. Jocketty spent 13 seasons as GM of the Cardinals, making the playoffs seven times.

I'm still trying to figure out why the hell the Cards got rid of him.

I thought Jocketty and the management of the Cards butted heads on more than one occasion. I know there was a power struggle with Jocketty and the farm system director that led to his dismissal.

Wow. They gave Dusty 4 years right? You know Jocketty wants his own guy. He probably doesn't like Dusty.

It's weird you would let a GM hire a manager and fire that GM 3 weeks into a season. It's pretty clear they didn't like him. Now you have a new GM with a manager he didn't hire. That never works. Plus you're committed to Dusty for 4 years. That's a lot of money to eat. But if you like Jocketty you'll have to eat that. He'll want his own manager.

At this point, I am guessing Dusty gets the rest of the year and probably starts the second year before there is any talk of his dismissal.

This sounds about right...even then, I would have kept Jocketty and told the farm system director to get lost...
