John McLaren can't be far behind. In what has turned out to be a strange baseball season I'd say the underachieving M's has to one if not the biggest disappointments.

I thought that they might be more competitive, too. Never saw them being in last.

At least he went out guns blazing. Wow....

We asked him about Bedard and his unwillingness to go past 100 pitches...

"You have to ask him and I know that's no fun. And he's going to have a stupid answer for you can count on it. He's going to have some dumb-ass answer."

"He's either gassed because he's laboring. He's protecting himself because he knows even he sticks around and is mediocre he gets another 2 million bucks lopped onto his salary."

"Why doesn't he go longer? It's a real pointed question. But you need to ask him. And good luck with that."

I wonder if manager John McLaren could be next to go, in spite of his "tirade"...

That's the Mariners problem. They get some talent, but they hire trolls as managers. Why not get someone good? Who do they think they are, the Bulls?

The Mariners fired John McLaren on Thursday, putting Jim Riggleman in the manager's office, just days after giving GM Bill Bavasi his pink slip.

I remember when Riggs was with the Cubs, always talking about the team making "outs that count", meaning sacrifice flys/bunts, etc. Lot of outs that didn't count with those Cubs teams.

However, when they did have enough talent, like in '98, the team did make the playoffs. Maybe he could do something with the talent Seattle has, make them at least a .500 team this season.

The thing I remember about Riggleman is him showing up to my cousins engagement party with my cousins soon to be sister-in-law. Riggleman was married at the time.

I heard ESPN's Jayson Stark mention something about the Mariners spent $116 million on payroll and they could lose 100 games in the same season. Talk about not getting much on your investment!
