The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel is reporting that the Brewers have acquired C.C. Sabathia from the Indians.

According to the Tom Haudricourt, paperwork and the exchange of medical records is all that remains to be done. Sources tell Haudricourt that the package includes Matt LaPorta but that Milwaukee refused to part with other top prospects Alcides Escobar and Mat Gamel. If true, Sabathia would make his debut for the Brewers on Tuesday against the Rockies

Wow. I can't believe this happened so fast. Kudos to Doug Melvin for moving quickly and getting the best available starting pitcher. The NL cenrtal just got a lot more interesting.

Somebody should have told the Indians that the Brewers were still in the AL Central.

You just better stay out of Cub business.
You just love that it helps the Sock and hurts the Cub. You're coming precariously close to the dreaded 'foe" list, you chubby little bastard.

The fact that he is on the Brewers now is funny to me, yes. I was also just as happy to see Johan Santana out of the AL.

I guess the AL central is gonna trade the Sock to a playoff berth. Fuck off, Frank.

It was a nice trade by Milwaukee but LaPorta is a heck of a player. I wonder if Melvin knew he was going to trade LaPorta when he drafted him last year. It will be interesting to see if Cleveland switches him back to first base (his natural position).

This is a steal for the Brewers. Even if CC only ends up being a rentaplayer, they could get 5-7 compensation picks in the draft next year. You figure at the very least one of those picks is going to turn into a halfway decent everyday MLB player.

Another 130 pitches tonight. Whoever signs him during the winter will be taking a huge risk.

He averaged 104.91 pitches a game last season. He's averaging 109.18 this season. I don't think an extra 4 pitches a game is going to have a too much of an effect on a horse like CC.

8-0 1.60. They were tied for the wild card the day the trade was made an now they have a 2.5 game lead. What a great trade by Doug Melvin.

Really don't understand why he was pitching in the 9th today with the huge lead. Really hoping Yost burns out his arm.

The Brewers have a 5.5 game lead in the wildcard. I'm sure Ned will be able to give CC and Sheets a day or two in the near future like Lou is doing with Z and Harden now.

Rosters expand tomorrow, so there are going to be plenty of opportunities to give a guy a day off here or there before they need to be out there.

I think he has a disputed no hitter - apparently, Milwaukee is petitioning the league to change the only hit he allowed to an error. I have not yet seen the play so I can't comment on if they have a case, and I'm also unsure how often the league changes a ruling like this.

Video on the page.

Yeah, he probably should have thrown him out, but the fact that the hit in question happened because of a screw up by CC, and not someone else, makes me feel not so bad for the guy.
