Contrary to popular belief - a scientist found that head first slides really are faster. Here's the link: http://news.yahoo.com/s/livescience/200 ... desarebest It doesn't mention anything about head first into first base, however. |

well, one difference would be that you can overrun first base, so you don't have to slow down as you approch the bag as you would with 2nd or 3rd base... |

The study is head first vs. feet first sliding...not head first vs. running to and stopping or running through the base. |

I've never heard that feet first slide is faster than a head first slide. The debate always is running thru 1st base, or sliding into first. I still think running thru the 1st base is faster |

well, when you slide, you're slowing down....right? i mean. if we could slide around and not slow down. we wouldn't need cars. people would just be sliding around everywhere. that would be so cool. |
