Reds Minors coach charged with not paying child support

By Doug Miller / MLB.com

Former Cincinnati Reds pitcher Tom Browning has been arrested and charged with not paying child support, according to jail records uncovered by the Associated Press.
Browning, best known for throwing a perfect game in 1988 and currently a Minor League pitching coach in the Reds organization, was arrested Friday and was being held on $99,008.36 bail, according to the AP.

Browning, a 1982 selection by the Reds in the First-Year Player Draft, made his Major League debut in September 1984 and went 123-90 with a 3.94 ERA in 12 years in the big leagues.

The 48-year-old has been coaching in the organization since 2006, when he was invited to Reds Spring Training camp as a special instructor.

As much as I like to poke fun at Shawn Kemp for his sheer volume of women...Nothing funny about not taking care of your responsibilities.

Browning is a huge douche.
I hate any 'dad' that doesnt take care of their kids but when theyre rich...its that much more ridiculous. But either way its wrong

I remember the jag sitting in the Wrigley bleachers in his uniform in th '90s. Once a jag always a jag!

Close. He didn't sit in the bleachers. He left the stadium and sat on a roof top.

Anyone ever see the video of his arm breaking delivering a pitch?

Browning also broke his arm pitching.

AP
SAN DIEGO - In a surreal moment that left players on both sides shaken, Cincinnati Reds pitcher Tom Browning fractured a bone in his left arm and collapsed. The pop of Browning's pitching arm could be heard in the press box.

"It's weird. I've heard it before," Manager Davey Johnson said after the Reds' 3-2 victory over the San Diego Padres last night. "You hear a sound like that, you know something's wrong, regardless of what the ball does. Like a rifle shot, he fell right down."

Pretty sure that was Tony Saunders

Quote:
Saunders was 9th in the American League in strikeouts, but also 1st in walks, as he struggled to a 6-15 record. He started the 1999 season 3-3, but on May 26, while pitching against the Texas Rangers, a bone in Saunders' arm was broken while throwing a pitch in a frightening incident. It was reported that, at the time of the incident, "a pin drop could be heard" inside Tropicana Field. He missed the remainder of the season. In 2000, he broke his arm again in a rehab assignment, forcing Saunders to retire at the age of 26.
