I know this team has won 2 World Series titles in franchise history, plays in a cavernous football stadium and usually plays in front of plenty of empty seats, but guess who is baseball's best bargain right now? The Florida Marlins are at it again, fans. I know it's early, but the Marlins currently have the lowest payroll in Bud Selig's Major League Baseball, yet have the best record in the bigs going into Pittsburgh tonight to start a series with the Pirates at PNC Park. A lot of their guys you probably have never heard of, but they have a solid middle infield you have heard of, shortstop Hanley Ramirez & second baseman Dan Uggla. They have another guy White Sox fans may have heard of, first baseman Ross Gload, who I believe came to Florida in an offseason trade with the Royals for Mike Jacobs. A lot of those guys you've never heard of, but right now, they're baseball's best early season bargain. |

Some of those guys I had heard of and others I had never heard of. Some I thought I had heard of, but then I double checked and I never heard of them, while others originally I thought I hadn't heard of but then after thinking about it remember having heard something about them, but that might have been something good or bad, I just don't remember the details of hearing about it. One name I for sure hadn't heard of was the Florida Flamingos, which was one of the names rumored to have been originally considered for the franchise. |

If this crappy team wins the series again, I am going George Brett all over the board. |

Ain't nothing crappy about the Marlins, ma fren. Unspoken truth is that the NL East (with the exception of the Nationals) is probably the toughest division in baseball this season. |

Could be either one, depending on the situation. |

I assume after another year of AL ass kicking in inter league that truth will remain unspoken. |

The Marlins are 6-0 vs. the Nats. They will come back to earth once they start playing major league calibur teams but if their pitching stays healthy they will be in the race all season long. |

The Marlins have lost 2 in a row to the Pirates so it didn't even take a major league calibur team to bring them back to earth. |

I'm pretty sure the Fish haven't won a game since Shark started this thread. Hey Shark, I'm thinking it's time for you to start a thread about the Tigers and their potential for a worst-to-first finish. It's never too early to throw some bad joo-joo at that team. |
