Post subject:  The New Launching Pad?

Fans, as much as we can't stand the New York Yankees, their new ballpark may already be the new "Launching Pad" for home runs. They've only played a week's worth of regular season games in their new $1.5 billion facility in the South Bronx, and they have already established an MLB record. Since the new Yankee Stadium opened with lots of fanfare last Thursday, 26 homers have already left the ballpark, including 5 in Wednesday's matinee, a 9-7 Yankee win in 14 innings over the A's, capped off by Melky Cabrera's second homer of the afternoon in a walk-off fashion. The 26 homers at new Yankee Stadium in the team's first 6 games is 1 more than 25 homers that opened Municipal Stadium in Kansas City way back in 1955, according to Elias Sports Bureau. For the record, the White Sox don't visit the new Yankee Stadium until August 28-30 for a three-game weekend series, but the baseballs are leaving that ballpark at a record pace.
