The Indians received a player to be named later and reliever chris perez...

Doesn't sound like that much to me, I thought the indians would have gotten a lot more for him...

All they wanted was one major league arm. Cubs could've probably sent Wells, Marshall, or Samardzija and that would've been fine. I don't see how the Cubs can make moves with the ownership situation the way it is.

The PTBNL will be very interesting (no way it's Brett Wallace) but Perez has great stuff and is a potential closer. Looks like a good deal for both teams.

I don't think there was no way that Hendry woulda brought DeRosa back anyway.

I have no idea what this statement is actually saying.

I thought this thread was about DeRosa, not Mr. KerPlunk?

It's saying if Hendry would have made a move to re-acquire DeRosa than he would be admitting that he was wrong for trading him in the 1st place. GM's are too proud and never like to admit they were wrong

Samardzija has a no trade clause, so he couldn't be dealt. Marshall is the lone lefty in the bullpen and Wells has been outstanding. I guess I might have chose Marshall. The shame of it, is that they ever dealt him. Had they NOT signed Bradley, they could have kept DeRosa and still had money to spend. But with the ownership situation not settled, I don't expect any significant additions now either.

The Cubs' Ryan Theriot is not at all happy that Mark DeRosa is back in the National League Central wearing the St. Louis Cardinals' uniform...If the Cubs don't win it this year, this could be the one move that'll haunt G.M. Jim Hendry & Lou Piniella to a point where he might want to go back to that broadcast booth upstairs after this season.

The Indians still get another player from the deal.
