Went onto espn.com to check some baseball scores and they had a story on their mlb page about the resurgance of the Rangers under Ryan. The thing was the picture they used was shocking I did not realize just how old and weathered Ryan was looking these days. I couldn't pull the one they were using cause I certainly do not pay to be an "insider" whatever the hell that is. But here is a close approximation to the pic

So I guess my questions are when did Nolan Ryan get so old? And could he still kick the crap out of Robin Ventura?

He was throwing in the mid 90's while in his mid 40's. Do you think that was natural??

I would love to see Nolan kick the crap out of Ventura once again. 8)

Sure it was natural. Naturally, he was on steroids, IMO.
The Ryan of the 70's and early 80's was sort of lean. The Ryan of the late 80's and 90's was not.

Didn't Jose Canseco allude to the fact that someone in the Hall was juicing?

The guy is in his 60's now. He played until he was 46 or 47. I wouldn't expect him to look like most retired players who have only been out of the game for 10-15 years.

Roids...no question. "Trained" with Clemens. I watched a game from 86...Ryan was hitting 96 regularly with 2 seamers...

Interesting, hadn't thought of this before. Pretty sure Canseco had a stint with the Rangers.

T-Bone, your my guy, but - you're only "pretty sure" Canseco had a stint w/ the Rangers? Because I'm "pretty sure" I remember the ball bouncing off of his head and going over the fence for a HR when he was a Ranger........

What I never understood was why the hell did Ventura run all the way out there just to give Ryan a big hug around his chest? What the hell was that?

Not saying either way re: roids....but from my 20's to mid/late 30's i was lean too....and then not so much from late 30's on....unfortunately my weight gain wasn't/hasn't been muscle related so much...
