I really hate this team. Besides the fact they have the biggest juicer in the game on their team, all their starting pitchers have odd/creepy mustaches. Their closer is also creepy looking, and sucks, but has been getting lucky somehow.

So your main complaints are that you THINK a guy is juicing and the pitchers are creepy looking?

And their manager is a drunken asswipe, and their fans are hillbilly dopes.

Ozzie Smiths acrobatics always seemed out of place. Jack Clark was a jerk.
Dave Duncan cheats (or is a wizard of some sorts...lipid?)

Fuck yeah he's a wizard...how else can you explain getting meaningful innings out of the likes of Todd Wellenmeyer, Jeff Suppan, Jason Marquis, and my personal favorite, Jeff Fassero...

At least one of which is in Chicago.

Its easy to say Pujols is juicing, but if he weren't a Cardinal, Cubs fans would barely notice him. Yeah, he is having a monster year, but he's always been a beast and always put up HUGE numbers. Everybody needs to STFU with this 'Albert is juicing' bullshit until he gets suspended for failing a drug test. Suspect all you want, but to convict this guy (especially this guy) based on just some great numbers is fucking stupid.

Post subject:  Re: Cardinals

I'll use the same arguement I used when everyone told me A-Pud wasn't juicing:

The best hitter during the steroid era is clean?

Post subject:  Re: Cardinals

I think with some of the suspensions handed out, its pretty clear that this testing thing is at least starting to work.

Again, not saying Pujols is clean. Just saying that automatically assuming he is not clean is pretty ignorant.

Why is it pretty ignorant? No one is beyond suspicion. Like Keyser said, why would we not suspect the best player of the steroid era? Oh yeah, he didn't juice, he's just better than all the juicers and everyone else who has ever played the game...spare me.

So thats not even a remote possibility?

Look, its not like Pujols came out of nowhere and starting hitting 40+ HRs a season. He was always putting up great power numbers. Even ARod had that spike in numbers when he was juicing in Texas. Albert has consistently put up numbers that are at or near the league lead each and every year. Not just power, average too. Its obvious the guy is a great hitter. Nobody (sans Greg Maddux and Frank Thomas) is above suspicion. But nobody should have an asterisk next to thier name unless there is some sort of proof that he was juicing.

Jeff Weaver? Ive written this in other threads but I truly believe he's cheating or increasing his odds somehow...The fact that guys suck after they leave is puzzling to me. I dont know if that speaks more to his genius or raises an eyebrow

Jeff Fuckn Weaver. Ryan Franklin? Julian Tavarez even!!??

So the possibility that he started juicing in the minors is out of the equation? He was a 13th round draft pick. He absolutely came out of nowhere.

Post subject:  Re: Cardinals

Is Mark Buehrle juicing? He was something like a 32nd round pick.

Post subject:  Re: Cardinals

You have to assume the worst. Baseball has done everything to sweep the steroid issue under the rug so NO ONE is above suspicion. I'll certainly never call someone 'ignorant' for saying he is.

Post subject:  Re: Cardinals

POint taken, but that draft pick logic is terrible. There have been late round picks that have ended up being stars. Conversely, there have been very high picks (Joe Borchard, Prior, etc) that have not worked out.

I take exception to that, or at least part of it.
You have no evidence that Ozzie is a drunken asswipe.
At least no evidence about his drinking habits.

The reason Pujols was drafted in the 13th round instead of the first was his body. He could always hit. But he was out of shape. He was fat. He fixed that somehow.

Im just sayin

According to Bernie Miklasz of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the Cardinals have acquired shortstop Julio Lugo for outfielder Chris Duncan.

Ick. Double Ick.

edit: there's some question whether this deal happened because the Red Sox traded for LaRoche.

That's a nothing trade... not sure what it does other than relieve the glut of outfielders..

There are internet rumors that maybe TLR and Dave Duncan are so pissed over the trade, they may have threatened to quit.

How is that different from any other major league lineup?
