The Brewers, in a major shakeup, have fired pitching coach Bill Castro, demoted shortstop J.J. Hardy and designated infielder Bill Hall for assignment. Class AAA pitching coach Chris Bosio will replace Castro, and the team has promoted top prospect Alcides Escobar to replace Hardy. In designating Hall for assignment, the Brewers now have 10 days to either trade or release him. One year after making their first post-season appearance since 1982, the Brewers rank next-to-last in the National League with a 4.84 ERA. The firing of Castro occurred Tuesday night after the Brewers suffered a 13-6 loss to the Padres, the National League's lowest-scoring team. |

Yep. Firing the pitching coach should do it. Let's not blame the GM for running out shitbags like Suppan, McClung, Burns, Villanueva, Bush and Parra. But he did go out and get Claudio Vargas and David Weathers so things should be looking up for the Brew Crew. ![]() |
