There are rarities you don't see everyday in Major League Baseball. One of them occurred 1 month ago when Mark Buehrle of the White Sox threw a perfect game vs. Tampa Bay. Another rarity is a no-hitter itself. The way Bud Selig's Major League Baseball has become these days, a complete game by a starting pitcher has become a rarity as well. Where I'm going with this is that in the Phillies' 9-7 win over the Mets yesterday at CitiField, backup second baseman Eric Bruntlett turned an unassisted triple play to end the game. You read it right...An unassisted triple play, only the 15th ever turned in MLB history, and only the second ever to end a game. According to STATS, Inc., you have to go all the way back to May 31, 1927, when Tigers' first baseman Johnny Neun accomplished it to preserve Detroit's 1-0 shutout win over the Indians. As for yesterday, Mets' rightfielder Jeff Franceour hit a line drive up the middle that appeared to headed for center field, but with both runners stealing on the pitch, Bruntlett was "Johnny on the Spot", easily catching the liner to step on second to double up Luis Castillo and then turned to tag Daniel Murphy for the final out. It's definitely something you don't see everyday.

You know what else you don't see at baseball games, touchdowns and slam dunks.
