Angels Close To Acquiring Scott Kazmir
By Ben Nicholson-Smith [August 28 at 2:58pm CST]
The Angels are close to acquiring Scott Kazmir from the Rays, according to MLB.com's Lyle Spencer. Spencer reports that the Rays are "on the verge" of sending Kazmir west for a pair of prospects, Alexander Torres and Matthew Sweeney

Hmmm...Scott Kazmir's a tough lefty. Why would the Drew Carey-looking Joe Maddon and the Rays want to deal him to the Garth Brooks-looking Mike Scioscia and the Angels? :? By the way, I wonder if FOX Sports bosses are secretly hoping for a Dodgers/Angels' World Series...It may just happen, folks. After all, FOX is based in L.A., just so you know...

Wow. Kazmir has been pretty good against Boston (8-7 3.59) and really good against the Yankees (6-4 2.53). This is a fantastic move by the Angels. A rotation of Lackey, Kazmir and Weaver could get them by the beast of the east this playoff season.

Too bad the soon-to-be former American League Champions lack the financial resources of their A.L. East counterparts called the New York Yankees & Boston Red Sox, Kujoe...Besides, the Rays still play their home games in a dump called Tropicana Field.
