DDave is right. Parker was getting 20 steals a year in his prime. I know that because I remember him being an SP-B in Statis-Pro to go with his T5 arm.

I have a feeling Larkin will eventually get in. His numbers for the shortstop position are pretty good. I believe one of the players his stats compare favorably with is Derek Jeter.

The more I am looking at Dave Parker's overall career, the more I am starting to wonder why he hasn't gotten more consideration.

Finished in the top 3 for MVP voting 4 times and won in 78.

Won 2 batting titles.

Won 3 Gold Gloves

Finished in top 3 for most hits 3 times - had 215 hits in 77

He's 51st all time in total RBI's.

How has he never gotten more than 24% of the vote?

Name one great Bert Blyleven moment. One dominant game.

Blyleven was a (very)good pitcher for a number of years, but HOF great, I don't think so. I'd even prefer Morris over Blyleven. While I'd agree that Morris has a less impressive career in total, he was the no. 1 on two different championship teams. For most of his career the general perception was that Blyleven was too often a junkballer, and a cheat at worst, whereas Morris was genuinely feared for 6,7,8 years.

Smith, again the Hall of Very Good.

There's at least 1 Blyleven post in this section somewhere. I'm too lazy to look it up. Bottom line is that Nas( I think it was him) says no beacause he doesn't have 300 wins. But yes to Schilling. The fact Bert Blyleven isn't a Baseball Hall of Famer is very puzzling to say the least. Even if you can't stand the Twins, Bert & Dick Bremer call a solid, entertaining ballgame on FOX Sports North and on MY Network TV up there in Minneapolis. As for Pete Rose, he should be in the Hall, statistically speaking. He'll NEVER go in however, thanks in large part to his betting on the game, which is an absolute no-no in MLB. He had his chance over a decade ago to come clean, and he blew it.

Sorry,my hate for those Buc teams has not faded. I STILL hate the Mets,just like Ron Santo! I hate the Cardinals,too because of the rivalry and they are managed by a Major League Tool!

The major issue of the cocaine scandal aside, my guess would be that he, like Dale Murphy were great for only a few years, then hung around & tarnished their legacies on the field as well.

Jeter IMHO is a first ballot HOF'r I don't think that can be debated. But Larkin's stats at the shortstop position will garner some consideration. I personally think he belongs in the hall of the very good, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Larkin go in.
