One recent scout in Spring Training: "His slider looked like it hit something mid-air. His slider broke so hard it looked like it hit something mid-air. It's not just unhittable, it might be uncatchable. Best slider I've ever seen. Ever. It's an 85." Kerry Wood also had a slider described like that. Looking forward to seeing this kid pitch |

Damn, I'll have to see if they put that pitch on youtube - I just hope that it's not such an unnatural motion required to throw it that he winds up having Kerry's luck with arm problems... |

If Stephen Strasburg can't find the plate and sucks like the Nats overall, point the finger at agent Scott Bora$. Scott and the Nats literally went to the bottom of the 9th inning off the field just to sign this #1 overall pick. He better be worth the hype. |

If I could borrow a line or two from ESPN's Jayson Stark, there are rumblings & grumblings that Stephen Strasburg could be starting the 2010 regular season in the minors instead of filling seats at the Washington Nationals' relatively new ballpark. It supposedly has to do with delaying the arbitration clock... |

Well clearly he can't beat out the likes of Jason Marquis and John Lannan as the ace of the staff |

Agent Scott Bora$ went into the bottom of the 9th just to sign Strasburg. Teams in Bud Selig's Major League Baseball are doing that to delay the arbitration clock when the player's original contract expires. That may explain why the White Sox sent Gordon Beckham to the minors a year ago instead of having him learn from the getgo with the big club. |

Remember when Pete Rose once said "The seats are for asses?" There are a lot of empty seats at Nationals Park, and MLB Network's Mitch Williams said on "The Dan Patrick Show" today that Stephen Strasburg might actually make fans care about the awful Nats... |

Strasburg signed a 4yr major league contract and the Nats hold his rights for 6 years. I'm pretty sure he'll be arbitration eligible after the contract expires no matter when his major league clock starts ticking. If he starts the season in the minors it will be because the Nats don't want to rush him. I think this kid's going to be great. |
