Thats a damn good curveball.

When he gets to the bigs, he should think of throwing something other than a fastball on the first pitch.

There's word that the Nationals will soon recall Stephen Strasburg, according to ESPN, especially considering how dominating he's been down on the farm. It's believed Strasburg will make his MLB debut vs. the Pirates the first week of June.

How can they recall him if he hasn't be called up before?

I've heard this song before ... call me when he's been successful for a couple years.

Frank, good point...I think the Nationals will soon call up Strasburg. The business of baseball is delaying such a debut for the coveted Nats' #1 pick of a year ago.

I disagree, Reason. I think Strasburg will have a better and longer career than Prior.

That's not setting the bar that high, Keyser. I hope so, though.

Isn't he on the 40 man with a major league deal? Technically if he is then he was up for spring training and then assigned to the minors thus making this a recall.

Keyser, I am inclined to agree. Baseball can be an extremely humbling sport, however.

The Pirates? Why not bring him up to face the Washington Generals?

I've also heard the White Sox, especially when you consider that the Southsiders pay a visit to the Nats' still relatively new ballpark in Interleague play next month. By the way, memo to Sox V.P. of Marketing & Broadcasting Broadcasting Brooks Boyer...Get rid of Darrin Jackson and hire Rob Dibble to analyze the games, whether the games remain on The SCORE or if the rumored FM sports talker acquires the broadcasts after this season!

Impressive one two combo of the fastball curve. He needs a third pitch. That slurve (it wasn't a curve or a slider to me) needs work. Also, and I might be picky, but he seems to slow down his arm motion on his curve and big league hitters will pick up on that.

Post subject:  Re: Stephen Strasburg Video

Strasburg has 4+ pitches. A (100 MPH) four seam fastabll, a curve/slider (he changes the speed on this so it's actually a couple different pitches), a changeup and a sinker. In the video you saw his fastball and curve/slider were so dominating he didn't have to go very deep into his repertoire. This guy is N-A-S-T-Y!

His stuff tonight was just sick. Was still hitting 96-99 mph in the 7th inning. He struck out the last 7 outs. His breaking pitches are nasty, even with the ump missing a few of them.

It all evens out, because there were a few pitches early on that the plate was pretty wide for.
