The Mariners acquired 1B Russell Branyan from the Indians for CF Ezequiel Carrera and SS Juan Diaz. The first trade of the dealing season is a real head scratcher as the last place Mariners (31-44) trade for the power hitter they desparately need 2 months too late. I'm sure the 2 minor leaguers are no great shakes but it's a curious move by Jack Z to say the least. |

I guess all this deal really does is allow LaPorta to play everyday at first for the tribe. It does nothing for Seattle really. I have also never even heard of the 2 guys they gave up for him. |
