Quote:
Former Texas Rangers and current New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez filed an objection to the Rangers' bankruptcy plan Wednesday over concerns about whether he would receive the $24.9 million he's owed in deferred compensation.

Rodriguez's attorney, Joe Wielebinski of Dallas, said in the filing that his client is objecting "out of an abundance of caution due to the potential uncertainties in the plan." The Rangers went into Chapter 11 bankruptcy in late May.

Rodriguez isn't the only player listed as a creditor. Current Rangers third baseman Michael Young is owed nearly $4 million.

Other former players among the list of creditors include Kevin Millwood ($12.9 million); Vicente Padilla ($1.7 million); Mickey Tettleton ($1.4 million); and Mark McLemore ($970,051.97).

Who was the agent representing Mickey Tettleton when he negoitated that contract? The guy has been out of the league for about 15 years. Why would he have deferred money this long? Not very smart. Same goes for Mark Mclemore.

Nolan Ryan, who is currently the Texas Rangers' Team President, was a guest this morning on "The Dan Patrick Show". Ryan's group is the one favored by MLB "Commissioner" Allan H. Selig that's trying to buy the team and talked about the uncertain direction of the team in the wake of bankruptcy, how his team was able to get lefty Cliff Lee in a trade with the Seattle Mariners, plus the possibility of Mark Cuban buying the team after MLB owners rejected his bid to buy the Cubs. If you don't want to wait until 1a tomorrow on 670 The SCORE to hear it on the Patrick show, you can check it out in the Podcast at 670thescore.com, or listen to it here:

You'll see in his salaries he had deferred 3M over the last two years of his career. Looks like he was banking on having a bit of a pension from the Rangers.
