MLB contacted Manny about an issue under its drug program. Manny retired rather than continue with the process

Sounds like he definitely tested positive. Would have been a 100 game suspension, with no appeal.

That's not at all true, but I don't like him enough to really argue about it...

I doubt he took steroids the whole time. But even if he did, so did a ton of other guys.

The guy made a fortune cheating and cheated right up until the end. Hope he saved his cash.

This is a bunch of bullshit, IMO.

If the guy is doping, then shouldn't he be drug through the coals like everyone else who has gotten "caught"? So if Barry Bonds just flat out said he quit when first questioned, no harm no foul?

312 Player is bringing it today. He's now a Raptor. Not a Toronto Raptor. Bad. Real Raptor, bringing it.

I assume everybody in the "steroid era" took steroids, including Frank Thomas and Greg Maddux so I'll never get mad over specific players, just baseball itself. While I doubt those 2 guys did, that's what baseball gets for not doing anything about it. I'm sure baseball doesn't care what I think though and it did just fine during the steroid era and it's doing just fine now.

My statement is an opinion. Its debateable but its not ridiculous

Yours is ridiculous.

CP GUY, Why do you assume he cheated the whole time?

do you assume everyone who got caught was cheating the whole time?

No way man! Frank Thomas spoke out against Steroids.

That means it would be physically impossible for him to take them.

No Auburn football player from the 80s was on roids.

While we don't know officially what the "drug question" was concerning, steroids are still illegal in the US, right? Cheating or not, the man is breaking the law (if, in fact he took them).

Manny Ramirez is one of my least favorite athletes of all-time. He was also one of the purest hitters of his era.

I don't think it's breaking the US law if you take them in another country then come back to the US.

And the Bonds comment you made, I think he's in trouble for lying to the government, not for taking drugs....

if i had to guess, i would say manny cheated 85% of his career maybe more, now i was exaggerating when i said he was a league minimum player if he stayed clean ... but there is no way in hell is even remotely close to hall of fame player minus the anabolic or hgh or whatever that clown was taking. he is closer to a league min player than a hall of fame player clean imo.

Did he cheat in a White Sox Uni? How dare him! Canseco played with the Chi Sox didn't he? They can all kiss my fat ass .....Frank and Thome included!

I don't know what all this cheating is doing to my overall perception of baseball, but it's not good.

Just my opinion, but Manny would have probably been more like a poor man's Rod Carew without PEDs. Definitely a talented hitter, but not a generational hitter.

I drafted Manny in my league in the 16th round. I figured he would juice up this year and hoped he wouldn't get caught. It was worth the risk.
