Let us not oversimplify, but what do you really need to have a good team for baseball?

Five pitchers: Two starters that can throw < 1.05 WHIP. I need one starter who is not as good but still is around < 1.2 WHIP. I also need a good setup guy that can pitch 80-90 innings. I also need a closer that can have a < 1.1 WHIP and not walk guys.

Four batters: I need three guys that can hit for power -- one of those guys needs to also hit for average. ! also need one guy that can hit for average and have good speed.

Two fielders: I need two guys that can field and manage a 250 BA.

One catcher: I need a catcher that can throw out guys stealing 2B about 40 percent of the time.

If its an IDEAL team, you'd have a dominant LOOGY in that bullpen. And you'd have to have 2 of those four power guys be left handed.

Might help to make sure those fielders are at least low strikeout guys since theyre giving you very little offensively.

Also, since were talking ideal, a switch hitting super utility type would be good.

oh and a fiery white guy. Never win a WS without one.

The 1998 Yankees are as close as you'll ever see to an ideal team.
