Man, I hope you are right, but I just don't see them spending the money it will take to sign him.

I'm holding out hope the Cubs pay for Fielder. Too good and too young to pass up. Cubs have a glaring need for a power hitter and a 1B with no one in the minors who could fill that role.

I would also think Boras will have a harder time pumping up Fielder's value with the Yanks and Sawx out of the sweepstakes.

Regardless of Scott Bora$' status, the Yankees & Red Sox are set at first base for the forseeable future. Prince Fielder & Albert Pujols will be hard pressed to earn the kind of $$$$ that the Yankees paid for Mark Teixeira & the Red Sox paid for Adrian Gonzalez after they made that deal with the Padres last offseason.

I would be shocked if the Cubs didn't land Fielder. Theo needs to make a splash.

HOVA, I get the impression that neither Fielder nor Pujols are on the Cubs' radar. I wish the national media would stop the fantasy. It's not happening!

Why wouldn't either of these players be on the Cubs' radar?

You hit the nail on the head, Frank. Two words why Albert Pujols & Prince Fielder aren't coming here...Alfonso Soriano. Two more words why Albert & Prince aren't coming...Carlos Zambrano. Good luck trying to deal these two and their fat salaries, Theo.

Wasn't that more of a staple of his first few years in Boston rather than the last few years?

I don't know why they only have 10 free agents so here are some more predictions for me to get wrong:

Mark Buehrle- Chicago White Sox
Edwin Jackson- Detroit
Roy Oswalt- Texas
Michael Cuddyer- Colorado
Yu Darvish- New York Yankees
Francisco Rodriguez- Cincinnati

Your Cub payrolls are going to resemble the pre-Fenway remodel, pre-WS Champion Red Sock teams more than any recent spending patterns. Sure he blew tons of money at guys in recent years, but early on he brought in guys like D Ortiz and B Mueller off other teams' scrap heaps, and for peanuts.

I agree. Eighteen (18) straight years without a title, and still The Glorious New York Yankees have won 25.2% of all the World Series ever played.

I am not comparing myself to the Lord Jesus Christ, but those years seemed a lot longer than forty (40) days in the Israeli desert.

Johnathan Papelbon signs with the Phillies. 0-1 and I'm off to another rousing start.

Heath Bell signs with Miami. Shockingly I'm 0-2.
