I'm holding out hope the Cubs pay for Fielder. Too good and too young to pass up. Cubs have a glaring need for a power hitter and a 1B with no one in the minors who could fill that role. I would also think Boras will have a harder time pumping up Fielder's value with the Yanks and Sawx out of the sweepstakes. |

Regardless of Scott Bora$' status, the Yankees & Red Sox are set at first base for the forseeable future. Prince Fielder & Albert Pujols will be hard pressed to earn the kind of $$$$ that the Yankees paid for Mark Teixeira & the Red Sox paid for Adrian Gonzalez after they made that deal with the Padres last offseason. |

Your Cub payrolls are going to resemble the pre-Fenway remodel, pre-WS Champion Red Sock teams more than any recent spending patterns. Sure he blew tons of money at guys in recent years, but early on he brought in guys like D Ortiz and B Mueller off other teams' scrap heaps, and for peanuts. |
