Oh yeah, so long Ram.

Ram was Craig Owens' alias in the indie supergroup 'The Sound of Animals Fighting.'

Also a Paul McCartney album which gave us "Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey". The nerve of him to use their real names. :P

Now the Brewers have 2 players that won't do anything for the first 50 games.

He is going to have his hands full battling K Rod for the position of biggest dead ass on the team.

Where does this leave Casey McformerCub?

I think it was a move out of necessity and a lot of times they don't turn out that good. They needed it for protection for Braun, so that I am sure was their thinking at first. Then with the delightful news this weekend it probably forced their hand even more. Now comes even more wonderful news that Greinke has fired his agent and wants to be traded. Not a lot of good news coming out of the Brewers these days.

Back to the point of the thread...
I'm glad the Cubs got the best years out of Aram and I'm glad that now he's well into his downward slide that he's gone.

He's getting $11 mil/yr?
Surprising.

Yep, this is going to be one (1) bad contract. At least when you guys come up here again this year you can boo him again.

I actually thought he would get more than $11M annually.

That's what I was getting at. I though his option with the Cubs was richer than that.

But that was for one year. This is for 3 years at a total of $33mil

If he stayed with the Cubs yes he would have got more for 2012 but I believe this deal gets him a lot more over the next 3 years total.

I can't imagine someone not wanting to give him a little more than $8 million a year after this season. Passing up on $17M this season looks silly now.

The one year option though would require him to play hard(er) to net him another contract where as the 3 year deal will allow him to relax for the next 2 years.

He was good when they had Alou and Sosa and the focus wasn't on him, but once he was asked to be the RBI guy when it mattered, he choked. And yes, he was absolutely terrible in the cold weather. At least Milwaukee has the dome, but given he will once again be asked to be a big RBI guy, I don't see him producing, again, when it matters.

But he's getting his money, so he's happy.

He was pretty solid after Alou and Sosa left. 08 specifically despite the poor post season.

He was a good player. I liked him. Wish him well.
