Quote: Major League Baseball is poised to pick off the much-maligned move, the fake-to-third, throw-to-first ploy that often succeeds only in getting the whole ballpark to shout ''Balk!'' The Playing Rules Committee has approved a proposal to make it a balk, too, with MLB executives and umpires in agreement. The players' union vetoed the plan for this season to discuss it further. MLB is allowed to implement the change after a one-year wait - no telling whether that would happen if players strongly object. Under the new wording, a pitcher could not fake to third unless he first stepped off the rubber. If he stayed on the rubber, it would be a balk http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/base ... ve-051012/ |

Dumb. Just leave it in. It's hilarious when pitchers repeatedly attempt it, and it's hilarious when it actually works. |

I like when pitchers try to throw a lazy pickoff to first and Bryce Harper shoves it up your ass by stealing home. |

I'm pretty sure it was Sean Lowe not Simas, Frank. |

I apolojai http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/baseba ... itesox_ap/ I liked this bit though....the more things change Quote: Kerry Wood (2-4) struggled with his control again, walking a season-high seven and giving up four runs in six innings. Of the 117 pitches he threw, 57 were balls.
"I didn't have any breaking stuff today. I don't know if I threw any breaking stuff for a swinging strike," Wood said. "It's got to come to an end sometime shortly or he might stop giving me the ball." "It's frustrating to go out there," said Wood, who gave up three hits and struck out five. "I know I can get guys out and it's just not happening yet." |
