Post subject: | Jason Giambi...Manager? |
Although he technically hasn't retired as a player as of yet, would you believe longtime 1B Jason Giambi is going to interview for the managerial vacancy with his current team, the Colorado Rockies? That's the word from the Denver Post, even though Giambi has kept the door open to continue playing next season after undergoing hernia surgery last week. The Post reports that Giambi, 41, will be the last in-house candidate to interview for the team's managerial vacancy, but there's no timetable in regards to when the team will name a replacement for Jim Tracy filling out the lineup card next year at Coors Field. Tracy resigned 1 week ago after a disasterous season in which the Rockies finished 64-98, their worst record in franchise history. So far, the Rockies have interviewed bench coach Tom Runnells twice, while the team's Triple "A" manager Stu Cole is a candidate for a possible coaching position for whoever ends up as the team's new skipper. Right now, the Rockies & Boston Red Sox are the only teams looking for a new manager and there's no timetable by Rockies' Assistant General Manager Bill Geivett to fill the vacancy. As far as Giambi is concerned, he has no managerial or coaching experience of any kind. The veteran first baseman had worked with Rockies' players about their hitting and talked strategy frequently with the now former Rockies' manager. Whether or not that's good enough for Giambi to become Colorado's answer to the Cardinals' Mike Matheny & the White Sox' Robin Ventura, neither of whom had managerial experience before landing the jobs in St. Louis & Chicago's Southside, remains to be seen. |

Be sure not to overfill the syringe and always insert in an upward angle. Also remember if you're left handed inject in your right buttock and if you're right handed inject in your left buttock. Ok lets go get em! |

He should be stripped of the interview and it should be given to Frank Thomas. |

When I read it before posting, I couldn't believe it. I'd like to think Jason's a longshot for the Rockies' job, but then again, the Cardinals' Mike Matheny & the White Sox' Robin Ventura didn't have any managerial experience before landing their first jobs. All bets are off. |
