From my experience with mild stimulants...coffee, nicotine, sudaphed....I can't imagine that daily long-term use of amphetimines would help you do anything, except perhaps wind up dead, in jail, or in the gutter.

Somebody help me understand this. Daily amphetimine usage will help you do you job? I don't buy it.

Yes, it could probably help you win a one-time race or something like that, but long-term, I think it would do more harm than good.

Back in the '70's, white cross & black beauties were popular. Black beauties were my fave for about 2 years.
1 black beauty would have you ripping for a good 8-10 hours with out ever getting hungry. 2 black beauties would absolutely jack you up. They didn't really give you a high, just a huge huge boost of energy for an extended period. You would not get tired...or hungry.
If I remember correctly, 100 black beauties cost $10 or $15.
Amphetamines are a huge PED.

This explains everything now.

Archie Bunker: Now wait a minute, Meathead, you said that, not me. I never said your black beauties was lazy. It's just their systems is geared a little slower than the rest of us.

Mike Stivic: Archie...

Archie Bunker: You don't believe me, look it up.

Gloria Stivic: He's prejudiced, there's no hope for him. No hope at all.

Archie Bunker: I'm not prejudiced, any man deserves my respect and he's gonna get it irregardless of his color.

Mike Stivic: Then what are you calling them names like black beauties for?

Archie Bunker: Now that's where I got you, mister liberal, because there's a black guy who works down at the building with me, he's got a bumper sticker on his car that says 'Black is Beautiful', huh, so what's the matter with black beauties?

Edith Bunker: It's nicer than when he called them coons.

So you could take these things every day for six months with no ill effects?

Yes, but this is what you look like 6 months after you stop taking them.

After hitting two black booties, I usually need a nap.

Amphetamines may help you get to the plate, but they would not help you at the plate. They could enhance things, but certainly not your performance.

Done Adderol (which is an amphetamine) a bunch of times when we couldn't find any blow/ran out of blow/had weak blow....

It was cool, you were razor sharp and had a low level buzz that stayed around for a while if you took enough.

Amphetamine abuse will lead to bad, bad things.

We didn't take them every day. If you did I'm pretty sure there would be some ill effects. If you wanted to get wasted, speed wasn't the way to go. It would just make you feel happy as hell, a little tingly all over, & have unbelievable energy, & ass another poster mentioned, a mild low level buzz. It wasn't like what they taught you in health class about speed freaks being all whacked out and all, but I'm sure if you popped a few of these every day then yea. As I recall the most popular medical use for amphetamines back in the day was for weight loss & fatigue. Speeders were fun.

Someone should promote the speed diet.

Lack of sleep and food (malnutrition) can be bad with long term use. When used occasionally, they are great and certainly improve concentration. I used to write 20 page papers in an hour while on them.

These didn't really serve as true performance enhancers. They basically were wake up juice for players that were out all night long.

Anyone remember Ismael Valdez. I believe when he was starting he would take 2 ripped fuel and slam a red bull between every inning. It blew my mind.

Wade Boggs once drank 50 beers on a cross country flight. He must have taken a bunch of black beauties.

I enjoy taking an Adderall when I'm at a concert. It gives a you a nice, smooth hit of energy, unlike cocaine, where your heart races, and your body warms up too much. Taking one Adderall a few times per year isn't going to blow up my heart, where cocaine just might. I have kids, so I don't play around with the booger sugar anymore.
