10. Danny Murtaugh Pirates 9. Joe Torre Yanks 8. Whitey Herzog Cards 7. Dick Williams A's 6. Billy Martin Yanks/A's 5. Bobby Cox Braves 4. Walter Austin Dodgers 3. Red Scheindist Cards 2. Bruce Bochte Giants 1. Tony LaRussa A's/Cards This was just off the top of my head. I'm sure I'm forgetting about 5 other guys. |

No Sparky Anderson? Anderson and LaRussa have 3 WS championships each. 2 each in the NL, 1 ea in the AL. Not sure how many other managers have won in both leagues. |

IMO he was a great ambassador but a poor strategist/ field general. I thought about Leyland before his Tiger stint, he's really lost his fastball. I can only speak for my own list of course. |

Tommy Lasorda is MASSIVELY overrated I like Apologists list but Ill take Sciossia off and ADD Cito Gaston |

Sciossia and his obsession with catchers has really dropped his stock since he won the series. All of the catchers he pushed and developed have sucked except the one he didn't like...Napoli. Conger-bad, Mathis-bad, Wilson-bad. |

Very hard thing to evaluate. LaRussa, Davey Johnson, Herzog, Torre come to mind. Al Lopez was supposedly a hell of a manager, but who knows? |
