Northwestern educated Joe Girardi isn't that bad of a manager. They found the 3b of the future in Vernon Wells. |

How much time do you have? Ha ha ha ha!!!!!! I have no idea if it matters or not to your question, but not hearing the name of Alex "Son of a Bitch Rat Bastard" Rodriguez has made this a most pleasant spring indeed. There has never been a more pathetic excuse for a "Yankee" than this piece of garbage. If you were to place Alex Rodriguez next to A.J. Burnett and tell me that I could only save one of them, I would pick A.J. Burnett. And that is saying quite a bit, since A.J. Burnett is responsible for taking about a decade off of my life expectancy. |

Vidal Nuno salvages the doubleheader split. Who is Vidal Nuno, you might ask? Exactly. |

Well, they've had a lot of injuries to guys like Derek Jeter & Mark Teixeira, but the Yankees somehow find ways to get it done with a makeshift lineup and make WCBS/Yankees Radio Network voice John Sterling yell "BALLGAME OVER! THE YANKEES WIN!!! THE YANKEES WIN!!!" at the top of his lungs. An example is Jayson Nix. As a member of the White Sox, he platooned with Chris Getz at 2B and occasionally played 3B before resurfacing in Toronto & Cleveland prior to landing with the Yankees as a 3B, SS, 2B and even corner outfielder. Tonight, he's the starting SS vs. the Mariners' Felix Hernandez in the Bronx. |

Even though they got hammered 12-2 by the Mariners last night, I was looking through the Yankees' box score of last night's game. Believe it or not, Vernon Wells finished the ballgame at another new position in his career. Wells, an outfielder by trade, finished a game at Colorado on the Yankees' last road trip at third base. Last night, Wells, who was the team's DH at the start of their game vs. Seattle, finished at second base and manager Joe Girardi sacrificed his DH for another unlikely player at a different position in the top 9th. Yes, it was SS Alberto Gonzalez, the same Alberto who had a brief cup of coffee with the Cubs last month. Gonzalez pitched 1/3 of a scoreless 9th on just 5 pitches. |

Chris Nelson, just acquired by the Yankees from the Rockies to fill in at 3B...We hardly knew ye. DFA'd just a few days ago. Ditto for SS/2B Alberto Gonzalez, who was DFA'd after Saturday's game vs. the Blue Jays. Rookie 3B David Adams has just joined the Yankees' big club after his contract was purchased by Triple "A" Scranton/Wilkes Barre. This as the Yankees continue to deal with a myriad of injuries to veterans such as 3B Kevin Youkilis, SS Derek Jeter, 1B Mark Teixeira & backup Eduardo Nunez, all 4 of whom are currently on the disabled list. Hello Reid Brignac. The left-handed, hitting-challenged SS/2B was acquired by the Yankees late Friday night from Colorado for cash considerations. Brignac, who the Rockies originally got in a minor trade with the Rays in February, was DFA'd himself by Colorado prior to the trade. With a rain out yesterday vs. Toronto, Brignac should be available tonight when the Yankees start a series with the Orioles in Baltimore. |

You know what's amazing, Vernon Wells could finish with a higher WAR than Josh Hamilton. It's definitely in the realm of possibility. ATM, Wells is at 1.5; Hamilton -0.1 |
