right now, I cannot stop thinking Mike Trout. And I'm trying...I never saw Mickey Mantle. Bonds I guess if you count circus freaks. But he couldn't field anymore by that point.

Trout had an amazing rookie season, but let's whoa that thing right now.

Tony Gywnn was the best hitter I ever saw. Of course he had no power, but he seemed to always get hits. But I saw him against the Cubs, so there you have it.

Best player I ever saw in person was Ken Griffey Jr. in Seattle.

OK. Youngish Barry Bonds was better, but not at the same age as Trout is now.

Young Eric Davis was amazing.

I really don't see Griffey Jr. as best I ever saw. Great player but not a physical anomaly like some others.

I looked up Gwynn's stats- it takes Josh Hamilton or Adam Dunn just two years to strikeout as much as Tony Gwynn did in 20 years...wow. 434 K's in 9,288 at bats.

Grif had best swing, Bond had best career. Eric Davis, no sample size.

I sort of view this as a point in time snapshot. I see Trout and its like "Holy Shit!" Look at him run! Look at him throw! Look at him crush the ball! Sort of a Bo Jackson sort but with real baseball skills.

Dick Allen in '71 and '72 nearly carried two different overmatched teams to division titles pretty much all by himself. And Canseco in the late 80s and early 90s was a truly complete player. I'd go with one of those guys.

I am taking this as in person at the stadium, and I would have to go with Wade Boggs.

ARod did everything Canseco did at a much more important position

JORR had the B&W portable TV in his crib watching the Sox games.

I was a little young, but 1984 Sandberg seems like it was quite a thing

I've seen quite a few players but can't recall specific games when I would have seen a particular guy except
for two I saw with my grandfather. One was Rod Carew and the other Kirby Puckett. I saw Sosa and Frank
Thomas but the prior two I mentioned I remember vividly.

That's tough. On any given day I could say Rickey Henderson, Ken Griffey Jr., or Frank Thomas and feel secure in my answer.

Best one season I've ever seen someone have: Doc Gooden 1985

Best athlete I've ever seen: Bo Jackson

Bob Gibson. He was the reason they lowered the mound.

Say Hey...I loved Dick Allen as JOR... hitting and base running outstanding...field not great. Saw Clemente,Aaron,Musial,Williams at the end of his career.Even Kaline was a hell of a player. I was blessed to see a lot of great players :D
