Spend your time worrying about guys whose collective success rate has to be less than 10% and who, if the do succeed, you will not see for years.

On the other hand, it's your time, do what you want with it.

How else are Cubs fans supposed to get excited for 2015?

A very convenient stance.

I view baseball draft watchers with the same quizzical look as I do Wolves fans.

Sure. Most professional sport regular seasons. Baseball, hockey, and the NBA are the worst. I couldn't give a fuck unless it's the playoffs for those three sports. Baseball's regular season is too long but at least it matters since not many teams make the playoffs. The NBA and NHL are both long and seemingly pointless since so many teams make the post-season. I did watch some regular season NBA when Rose was healthy just for the spectacle of his talent.

The interest is at least 95% concentrated on the first rd, which probably has like a 50% success rate.

And the players seem to be arriving earlier these days

But its definitely not on the level of NFL and NBA

Except the biggest draft fan on the board is a HUGE Sox fan

Take a day off from Cub hating, Frank. Just try not to think about the Cubs for an hour. Then try and beat that record, and so on...

I believe Frank made a post a couple weeks ago alluding to this.

You can almost say the NBA draft is irrelevant out side of the lottery. I mean you have to be a 1st rounder to even be a bench warmer mostly. Isn't it true a 2nd rounder is really a long shot to make the team that drafts him?

Says the soccer fan of the board. I would rather watch every round of the MLB draft than guys running around kicking a ball for 90+ minutes that ends in a 0-0 tie.

The MLB draft would is like if the NBA chose nothing but Europeans who were currently under contract to teams.

It's been exciting charting the development of Mirotic!

Bryce Harper
Steven Strasburg
Manny Machado
Matt Harvey
Chris Sale
Michael Wacha
Dylan Bundy

All guys that were up and helping the MLB team very quickly

You realize what percentage of players, even if you limit it just to first rounders, this constitutes over the time frame? Even these guys, the almost 1% of the entire draft, were MLB players two years later.

I think my analogy is very valid.

Wacha, Bundy, and Harvey were all in the majors less than a year after the draft

Anyway, that's 7 players from 3 drafts and Im only including guys who have been good.

7 of 90 is about 6%

I understand your point, but its going the other way.

I think it makes it more fascinating, the idea that most of the picks will bust within 5 years, but you may not know which way a guy is heading for a few. And there is a chance, not putting a % on it, that a generational talent will be found (like Pujols in the 13th round). It is true that almost all NBA and NFL first rounders are in the league right away, but those leagues have a convenient minor league development system free of cost at their disposal. Baseball fans tend to follow organizations, the draft and development process is an extension of said organizations. I would suggest many NBA and NFL fans root for a uniform.

Just my take, some people find Indian Cricket fascinating.

I guarantee you this. If MLB Network wasn't broadcasting this 1st Round of the MLB Draft right now, nobody would be broadcasting this draft. It's definitely different than the NFL & NBA. It's harder to figure baseball draft picks unlike the ones in football & basketball.

It's possible I posted something to draw a negative reaction. I'm surprised you didn't catch it.
