Why do the Red Sox want to give Pedroia more money? They have him locked up until he's 32. I was talking to Sini earlier this year about how bad 2nd basemen production declines after 32 and I'm sure that is universally known in baseball.

That's like $14M a year. He seems like a $14M player. The fanbase loves him.. they can't give all of their money to hurty pitchers. Yanks gave Jeter all that money, cause he is more valuable to that franchise than any other and they can afford it.

They had him locked up until 32. EVERY 2nd baseman takes a huge dive after 32. The stats show it. Giving a guy a boat load of money when you didn't have to is crazy.

I think most positions prior to steroid era take a dive after 32.
