13 consecutive seasons of at least 30 starts and 200+ innings pitched. The Man is a machine.

I'd say very high.

I'm sure he'll also finish his career here. He'll be brought back Kerry Wood style for a farewell tour.

Let's hope not. And I'd guess he might try to play one last season in St. Louis for small money when that time comes. Though I'd have no problem with him returning to the Sox as a useful pitcher. In fact, he should have never left. They just couldn't wait to give Buehrle's money to "Losing Pitcher" John Danks.

I watched that opening day crazy fielding between the legs flip play again today -- one of the best defensive performances by a pitcher of all time.

If Toronto wants to pay him to pitch for another team I would LOVE to have Buehrle back in a White Sox uniform. He could really help some of the young pitchers with the major league learning curve and all those 30+ pitch first innings would be a thing of the past.

I could see Buehrle leaving the game and being a family guy. He doesn't strike me as a baseball lifer.

How about the start Buehrle is off to:

3 starts
21 IP
0.86 ERA
17 H
2 BB
16 K's
0.905 WHIP

come on now, Buehrle was signed to a contract we would all be howling about. He has been passed around like a hot potato since he signed it. I love the guy but at 18 million the Sox were correct to let him walk.

There also was no indication we know of that Danks would get hurt.

I had Mark on my radio show back in 2004 right after Maddux won #300 and he flat out declared that he thought he'd be able to surpass the 300 mark in his career.
It doesn't look possible now, but he's a great guy and has had an incredible career.

My issue isnt so much with letting Buehrle go. Its with giving that same mony to a lesser version of him. At least finding Quintana is somewhat mitigating.

Isn't Buerhle the guy who would rather hunt all day?

Maybe he can be Konerkos assistant roving spring training pitching coach
