Great player, but my guess is he'll get no more than 6 x $24m. His official age is 31 (this October), so he's probably 34. |

I think it makes sense to hype your client, and if you can get him above value, it's going to bring more clients. But Jay-Z is making a mistake here. I don't think he will even get $250mm. I wouldn't be shocked if the contract is $200mm. It's just going to make Jay-Z look bad when he doesn't get anywhere near $300mm. Trout is worth $300mm, Harper probably too. Not Cano. |

Teams are getting an extra cut of the TV contracts next year, ~$30M per team. That probably has been factored into a few teams already and escalated some signings. Still, it only takes 1 drunk owner... i guess he stays in NY, in the 8/$27 range |

With where the Yankees are, I don't think they can afford to let him go. |

Yankees reportedly offered him $168mm. They are faaaarrrr apart. Edit: this was earlier this year |

He has really nice numbers playing one of the lower impact defensive positions in the game. I have no idea what that is worth these days |

I would pass but considering Pedroia just got $100M someone will give Cano at least $200M. |

Dodgers need a second baseman. Should have no problem getting money from them. Back up plan would be the Mariners if he only cared about money. |

Which is why his value is higher than if he were an OF. Believe me, I want the Cubs to focus almost all of their free agent dollars on pitching in the next few years. Especially given the position player prospects the Cubs have. But it is hard to not give Cano a passing thought. 2B has not been good for the Cubs. Maybe, if that is where Baez ends up, it'll be different. Right now in about 450 more AB's,Cano has 16 more HR's then Donnie Murphy. He is batting .313,Murph is at .259. So if Murphy played 2nd all year he might have about the same number of HR's for about 29 million dollars cheaper. |
