Manny.

They'll walk him to get to 1993-94 Big Frank who wins the game with a HR 8) 8)

Pujols.

can always say it is a biased view as the guy dominated at Wrigley, so maybe we only saw his best, but going to base it what I saw and this may have been the best hitter to venture into Wrigley for years.

not sure how you answer that from a SABR question. Looking at OPS+ during respective 8-year peaks:

Thomas: 182
Pujols: 177
Ramirez: 166

Im not sure how to research it, but would be interesting to see their numbers against top pitchers

Obviously horribly biased but the second most vivid Pujols memory I have is Smoltz coming into a 2003 Sunday night game in the 8th inning of a tied game to face him and Albert took Smoltz deep (first pitch I think)...Smoltz was insanely good closing at the time...

Of course, I'd have no problem taking either of the other guys.

I'm gonna go with Frank over Manny and Pujols. But Pujols would be fine too. I'd toss Manny since he struck out a lot more than the other two.

I've always said that in his heyday Frank was the best right handed hitter I'd ever seen so unless it's Jeff Nelson pitching I'll take Frank in any situation

Were you listening to the press conference? Frank specifically mentioned Nelson.

Ryno

He won the MVP award for killing just this type of situation twice in the same game.

He was a juicer. He went from a throw in to a Hall of Famer. Yeah that happens everyday.

  no fucking way, he did ? I just remember Frank would start bailing as soon as Nelson started warming up. Hell, he'll be bailing 20 years from now . He no likey facing him that's for sure.

He played tight-end in high school so he's beyond suspicion.

High School? Big deal. Now if he would have played TE in college......

My first reaction is Pujols or Manny no matter how much I love Frank. Mostly because they seem to be more pull guys. On the other hand I want to say Frank as I trust him to be more patient with his eye and get the bat on the ball. He gets the bat on the right ball it goes deep. Frank.

If this thread was titled, player you want the double play grounder hit to in order to end a threat in 8th inning of the NLCS - you might change your answer.

Thats sort of where Im at on this. Granted I didn't see anywhere near the amount of at bats from Pujols and Manny but no one ever spoiled, fought off, and then put in play for hits as many pitchers pitches as Frank.

Before 2003, he would have been in the conversation
