Australia doesn't count. I hope you're watching too.

Out of tradition, Opening Day is generally the first "I'm Sick, but Probably Not That Sick" day I take every year.

Should be one of the easiest things to hype up but baseball does a great job of fucking it up :lol:

They fuck a lot of things up. In general their marketing is putrid.

Of course, but my post is alluding to Mac taking time off during the equivalent of black Friday for a best buy television salesperson.

So is Australia the next place Baseball is trying to expand to? I know they played these games in Japan in the past, it seems they're trying to build a fan base over in Australia.

Opening day is exciting because it starts everything anew. IDK if it makes better sports talk radio compared to Day 2 or 3, when you have the first couple of games to talk about.

Cricket=Baseball

In the minds of the baseball thinktankers.

Rugby=Football then?

They're looking to make money by selling overpriced merchandise.

Rugby=Football then?

Is Cricket even popular in Australia? I know it's a former Colony, but I don't know if Cricket is a thing there as it is in South Asia & the Caribbean.

I think MLB is trying to corner markets that don't like Cricket, like Japan, S. Korea & China. Australia might fall under that umbrella, too.

Rugby is by far the most popular sport in Australia. I don't think anything else compares.

Yeah, Rugby is huge. The NFL wouldn't have a chance in hell there. Baseball, on the other hand, can be promoted as something "different".

Why do a lot of teams get a day off after opening day? It's not like we didn't have a whole winter of rest and recuperation. Stupid MLB is run by chimpanzees

They're watering it down so much that the NFL may steal it.

I think they do that in the event of a rainout, they can push the game back to Tuesday and not have anyone miss a game.

Baseball and Bud are always crying about ways to make the game more popular and ways to get kids hooked on it.

Hey, How about OPENING DAY! Not 1 Game opening Night or 1 game a week early in down under.

1 Full day of baseball. Everyone plays, every knows everyone is playing, every kids tries to get out of school. All Dome teams play a second game right away, other teams can leave the next day open for a makeup.

It's like they don't even realize one of the coolest things about baseball and they just ruin it.

In case of a rainout, opening day tickets are still opening day tickets. Best not to reschedule opening day for an August afternoon

Edit: Newper said it. It does fucking suck though. It kills the momentum
