Love it in theory, hate it in application. Give me the human error and the increased watchability all day every day. Baseball is too slow as it is. |

Agreed. This sucks. Whiney ass managers crying for replays is the worst thing for baseball since hawk Harrelson |

Yep. Need to restrict it to fair/foul-type stuff. |

Yep, it fucking blows. They're gonna have to tighten up the process and put some restrictions on it. |

I have no problem with it so far, seems from what I have seen it hasn't taken long and hopefully the calls are corrected that need to be. |

They spent 5 minutes last night to determine if a ball hit a bat to make it an 0-2 count or a 1-1 count. I don't even remember the result. I think it was inconclusive, 0-2. So you can go straight to hell, Hawg. |

Not a fan. It has totally ruined NFL officiating, and will do the same to MLB. |

challenge systems are idiotic. either the call is right or wrong. if it is wrong it should be fixed, you shouldnt have to pay for it with a fucking challenge. an official should be assigned to each game in the booth reviewing all close calls and he alone can stop play for a closer review. baseball is plenty slow where an official has plenty of time to review a couple replays and not interrupt the game. clint hurdle get your fucking fat ass back in the dugout where it belongs. |

I agree with this. It turns officating into a bigger mess than ever. Look at the NFL now. Half the time the refs just shrug their shoulders and make a call and let the coaches or booth review decide how to proceed. It is a farce. |

This is a fucking disaster. They're still making wrong calls, they're just different wrong calls. And take that ball that Eaton dropped on the transfer. The correct call was made on the field. That batter should have been out. The umpire called him out and the ball was dead. If it had been called a ball in play, Eaton would have easily forced the guy at first, who understandably wasn't running. This shit is fucked up. |

This system officially sucks nuts. Just now Indians centerfielder caught the ball, dropped it in the transfer and ruled a hit. Go to replay and they stick with hit! Replays seems to be an empty excuse to reaffirm bad calls. Why did we ever expect MLB to not fuck this up? |

There isn't any imperative to have every call correct and perfect. It would be nice but that shouldn't trump everything else. This is making the game worse. |

Keep it simple Safe/Out Fair/foul Homerun/double Those are all very easy and quick. |

It's going to wreak havoc with the neighborhood play that has been an accepted part of the game for over a hundred years. And sometimes it's just as hard to tell on the replay. All calls will never be perfect. We should just accept that fact instead of fucking up the game. |

If they could somehow grandfather that unspoken rule in, that would be perfect Maybe just safe out at home |

The worst part is when they take 10 minutes looking at a call that looks 50/50 either way no matter how many times and angles you look at it from. Complete waste of everybody's time. |

The problem with replay, I couldn't explain it before, but the camera moves too fast in baseball. Football has the camera gradually following the progress of the runners in a play. Baseball is often following the speed of the throws which makes most of the camera replays unusable. |

What baseball needs is a time clock. 5 minutes per 1/2 inning. All the pitcher & defense need to do is hang on for 5 minutes w/o letting the offense score. If a batter has to step out of the box, the clock stops, if a manager or catcher needs to go to the mound, the clock stops. Clock resumes when everybody is back in position. |

Sox game, 2nd inning, butcher Bogaerts' throw pulls Napoli off the bag. Umpire had a bad angle so he rules Abreu out. Robin wisely challenges and MLB central command still deems him out! ![]() What the fuck is the point of this system!?!?! |

Post subject: | Re: Replay |
So here's another wrinkle MLB didn't foresee when implementing replay. Before replay, whenever a close play occurred the manager didn't feel it was necessary to leave the dugout unless it was wrong. Now every close play has the manager waddling out to the umpire and then shooting the shit until he gets the yay or nay signal from the dugout. So, maybe the replay itself doesn't take more than the predicted 3-4 minutes (the whole request, replay and call seems to be taking longer though) but you have multiple times where skippers are coming out, stall, stall, stall, "ok nevermind I don't need a replay thanks for the clarification". |
