A bit surprised there wasn't a thread already for this (or I missed it)... ...apparently Harvey had a 180 inning limit for this season, imposed by his doctor and agent...problem is, it sounds like they didn't clue anyone in on it.  At least Strasburg was up front with the Nationals |

There were some comments today on sportscenter that teammates were really unhappy when they heard the news. This could develop into a big issue. http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/story/new-york-mets-matt-harvery-gm-rips-scott-boras-over-innings-cap-090615 Scott Boras, Harvey’s agent, recently made it very clear that Harvey’s doctor does not want the 26-year-old pitching more than 180 innings this season. The Mets are in first place in the NL East and in position to win the division for the first time since 2006. On Saturday, general manager Sandy Alderson told Mike Lupica of the New York Daily News that Dr. James Andrews, who performed Tommy John surgery on Harvey, never told the Mets about an inning cap. |

So, the same guy who was bitching out the Mets last year for refusing to let him return excessively early from TJ so that he could pitch meaningless September baseball is now unwilling to risk injury even if his team reaches the playoffs... |

He just came out disputing the report and saying he will pitch in the playoffs despite advice from his doctor. Seems like a total Boras fuckup. |
