Zack Burdi (Downers Grove South) was 95-98 at Louisville's scout day today. He touched 100 with Team USA this summer. If Louisville decides to put him in the rotation he could be a top 10 pick.

Perfect Game is reporting over 200 pitchers topped 90mph in Jupiter this weekend.

PG has the hottest guns in the business but this is still pretty impressive. Great collection of young arms out there.

BA released their top 100 HS players. It's a terrible list despite a pretty good Midwest representation. I think they put names on a giant wheel and spin it. Here's the top 10. The entire list is attached.

1. Jason Groome LHP
2. Riley Pint RHP
3. Blake Rutherford OF
4. Josh Lowe 3B/RHP
5. Mickey Moniak OF (my guy!)
6. Delvin Perez SS
7. Ian Anderson RHP

LSU’s Godfrey To Transfer

December 3, 2015 by Teddy Cahill

Sophomore righthander Jake Godfrey will transfer to a junior college after the fall semester, Louisiana State announced Thursday.

“Jake has expressed to me his desire to transfer, and my understanding is that he would like to enroll and pitch at a junior college,” coach Paul Mainieri said in a statement. “We wish him the best as he continues his baseball career.”

Godfrey appeared in 21 games (nine starts) as a freshman, going 7-1, 4.61 in 54 2/3 innings. He struck out 39 batters and walked 33. He spent the summer pitching for Chatham in the Cape Cod League, where he went 0-1, 2.41 in 18 2/3 innings over six appearances (four starts).

Listed at 6-foot-3, 220 pounds, Godfrey has a good pitcher’s frame. He can throw his fastball up to 94 mph and mixes in promising secondary offerings. If he has a solid spring, he will likely won’t have to wait long to hear his name during the draft in June.

Godfrey, a native of New Lennox, Ill., was originally committed to Notre Dame, but changed to LSU for academic reasons during his senior year at Providence Catholic High. He was ranked No. 130 on the 2014 BA 500 and was drafted in the 21st round by the Braves. The Braves drafted him in the 21st round, but he chose to attend LSU instead of signing.

Godfrey was the top-ranked player in the Tigers’ No. 1 ranked recruiting class that fall. That class has now seen three defections they began school, as lefthander Mac Marshall withdrew from LSU in September 2014 and transferred to Chipola (Fla.) JC. Shortstop Grayson Byrd transferred to Clemson after his freshman year. Lefthander Jake Lantz, another prominent member of the class, missed all of last year due to an elbow injury and will miss the first two months of this season after undergoing surgery in November.

LSU still has a strong pitching staff, led by sophomore righthander Alex Lange and junior lefthander Jared Poche’.

Godfrey's going to a JC in Florida. Hopefully he's able to grow a set of balls down there.

Jake's name is Latz. Not Lantz.

In BA's current Top 100 High School list by Hudson Belinsky:

He has the two Wisc kids middle of the pack. Certainly NOT first three round material after adding in College and JUCO players....

The list shows :Rank/Name/Pos/Ht/Wt/High School/and college commitment.

45. Ben Rortvedt c 5-9 185 Verona (Wisc.) High Arkansas

47. Gavin Lux ss 6-0 167 Indian Trail Academy, Kenosha, Wisc. Arizona State

a higher rated kid right in our own backyard is :

23. Cooper Johnson c 6-0 200 Carmel Catholic, Mundelein, Ill. Mississippi

Keyser,

What did you think of Tyler Halas @ Rita, and have you heard anything about his prospects in next years draft? As he decommitted from Tennessee to go to a JC in Palm Beach,FL, I hear he's optimistic.

Question....Cubs lost their draft pick with the lackey signing....do they get one back with the future Fowler signing? Would that be a first round...or end of first round supplemental pick? Just curious.

Yes they'll get a supplemental pick between the 1st and 2nd round for Fowler.

if all the free agents leave the Cubs would get the 14th comp pick

32. Justin Upton, Padres
33. Jeff Samardzija, White Sox
34. Hisashi Iwakuma, Mariners

he is at Palm Beach State a JUCO ...they open their Spring Season on January 29th with a few preseason games starting on Jan. 16th. There is no mention of him on the team website or Facebook page as of today but he is there working out according to his Twitter account (@Halas_25).

Kyler Murray is transferring from Texas A&M.

Hopefully he wised up and will go to a Junior College to be eligible for the 2016 Draft where he would be a likely 1st round pick. Murray is an exciting talent and his future is in baseball and he should get that future started as soon as possible.

Riley Pint hit 102 in a bullpen today. I saw him hit 98 at the Under Armour game but he struggled with his command. His delivery isn't ideal he has trouble repeating and there's a lot of effort but fuck me 102.
