It really is wide open this year, imo I think the most complete teams are the Pirates and Royals, but both have questionable rotation depth. |

We will always have the memories of the champagne celebration of backsliding into the playoffs by way of the horrible wildcard! I was against the wildcard when they introduced it, and I remain against it now. Maybe the horrific Brian Satan Elf Cashman will arrange for the unveiling of a "2015 WILDCARD QUALIFIER" pennant to fly proudly over Yankee Stadium. That would mean so much! Q: "What did you win in 2015, Joe Girardi?" A: "Oh, we won nothing, but we lost a little bit less than the OAKLAND GODDAMNED ATHLETICS!!!!!!!!!!!!! Send us to the dog and pony wildcard play-in game!" This has all the suspense and intensity of that N.C.A.A. play-in game where Northern Vermont and Hayseed University compete to determine who gets to have their asses handed to them by Duke! IS THIS SUPPOSED TO MAKE ME HAPPY!?! This season was on you Cashman, you lousy bastard! |

mets/dodgers is gonna be fun..... even tho kershaw has, what, now 2 straight years of relative/meltdowns in the postseason to offset his dominant-by-default regular seasons he's looked really good against the mets this year and he's finished the year looking great as he kept on giving up 1ER in 6-9IP for his last 7-10 starts, altho at the end i think he had a CG shutout with 14K and then 3.2IP 2H 0ER 7K on sunday. the mets are gonna counter the kershaw/greinke 1-2 with degrom and syndergaard, and degrom himself was looking great too as he did 4IP 0H 2BB 7-8K on sunday and after his skipped start right after a rough go he had 2/ish proper degrom starts to finish the season. syndergaard ended up like ~3.20/1.10 or something with over 1K/IP, but i wanna say that he finished up the year with like 2 or 3 7IP 1-2ER 10+K starts, and when he's on point he can go 7IP+ 3ER-or-less and 10+K with the best of them. and then harvey is set for game 3 and idk if matz is still penciled in for game 4 cuz he started having a stiff back/side in the last week of the season with a tuesday start pushed back to thursday then pushed back to sunday and then you hear he got a shot to calm him down on friday so degrom was starting on sunday.... in theory he could be there for game 4 and while i'd say that kershaw/greinke is > anyone else in terms of a 1-2 punch, if you factor in 1-4 for SPs i think the mets 1-4 of degrom/syndergaard/harvey/matz is the best in baseball, tho idk how much we'll see of 4th starters cuz i'd reckon that desperate/ish teams might try to bring back the game 1 starter for game 4 on short rest, especially on the dodgers' side of the ball. of course, idk if kershaw has ever been full-on-kershaw in the playoffs yet. i wanna say he has ~4.00-4.50 ERA in the playoffs for his career? last year i remember him starting off !!!! vs the cardinals b4 totally imploding for 6-9 runs, and he might have even done that twice in the series. at least with greinke he has another bonafide !!!!!! #1/type starter alongside him whereas in years past it was basically kershaw or bust (cuz even the last good-josh-beckett run was derailed by the playoffs IIRC and we havent seen him since then) so yeah this will be fascinating cuz the mets legit got better with cespedes and wright returning and some of their lagares type players getting better on offense this year, and the dodgers have basically been good by default cuz of their huge payroll (does anyone have a 4th OF costing as much as carl crawford?) and lots of depth.... tho all that depth had to be there to essentially make them mattingly-proof cuz i dont think they're gonna win shit under mattingly.... i think if THEY had a joe maddon type they could be a scary 100+ win team cuz as it is they have to win with a guy who loathes the SB so much they finally get dee gordon to hit above .250 (which was his biggest weakness coming up) and he steals 64 bases or whatever so they of course dump him off on the marlins and pay like ~10mil/+ of his salary to dump him off..... so of course he steals a shit ton of bases and wins the fucking NL batting title, you know? i'm sure the dodgers had no use for the NL batting champion stealing 50+ bases atop their lineup this year, right? sooooo yeah cubpacalypse notwithstanding i cant wait to see some mets/dodgers. bring it on! i <3 pitching! |

I hope de Grom and Kershaw are at their best on Friday. De Grom faded pretty hard and ya know Kershaw and October. But maybe its just the Cards that have Kershaw's number. He's had some success. He was real good against the Braves in the 2013 NLDS |

Pirates and Astros win WC. Cardinals, Dodgers, Royals, Astros win the LDS. Royals over Dodgers in the WS, which, given the color scheme of both teams, is going to be very confusing for some to follow. |
