From The New York Times A Map of basbeall nation. Based on Facebook likes. http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2014/04/24/upshot/facebook-baseball-map.html#6,39.805,-84.632 Here is what they say about Cubs/Sox. Helped by the charm of their field and by WGN’s national broadcast reach, the Cubs have always been the better-loved of Chicago’s two teams. But the White Sox — unlike the Mets or the A’s — do have a patch of their own territory, on the city’s South Side and into the southern suburbs. Interstate 290 (the Dwight D. Eisenhower Expressway) is a rough guide to the border: Know whether you're north or south of it before you put on your hat. The entire article is here: http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2014/04/23/upshot/24-upshot-baseball.html Which team has the most fans in your Zip Code? |

Kinda cool. No shocker Yankees ranking in top 3 of most markets. I think Yankees were the only team that ranked as the most popular in another teams market...down in South Florida. Cubs probably had the largest geogrpahic terriory when you went into Iowa and upper Wisconsin. Surprised to see Red Sox nation battling in AZ for top 3 in many Zip Codes. D backs are the most popular , easy one...Cubs ranking second in most zip codes, yankees coming in as well...because, its the yankees, but there is Boston taking a top 3 position in many zips as well. The fact they dont even practice in AZ is why I wouldnt think they get the likes. But they did. |

When I first moved down here to the Illinois Valley from the western suburbs, I was surprised to see how many St. Louis Cardinals fans there are. (As well as Packers fans). The area is probably more Cubs fans than anything but second place between the Sox and Cardinals is very close. |

Well I assumed that is a big part, but AZ and FLA are the only areas in the country with spring training, so you see how a zip code might get the Giants as a fave? But the east coasters usually move down to FLARIDA! |

this proves the cheesehead/fib rivalry too. nowhere else in the nation is a line drawn so crisp in the sand. wisconsin people hate illinois, its not an exaggeration! |
