If I knew I was out the door anyway, I would have raised my hand from the back of the room and asked him how many World Series he won by keeping his prospects

his record other than the 2nd half of this year is definition mediocre.

i wonder how good the jays would be if he kept the prospects he dealt:
Adeiny Hechavarria,
Henderson Alvarez
Jake Marisnick
Justin Nicolino
Anthony DeSclafani
Travis d'Arnaud
Noah Syndergaard

these aren't red sox prospects (maybe cubs type soon???!) where they are hyped and suck.

Everyone knows World Series titles don't matter. It's having the best farm system and highest rated prospects and the RIGHT PLAN that are important.

Same exact thing Anthopoulos has but at half the cost.

Now that the World Series is over teams have 5 days to offer their free agents a qualifying offer. Players then have 7 days to accept the offer or become free agents. Here's a list of players I think will receive a qualifying offer (1yr/$15.8M). Johnny Cueto, Scott Kazmir, Mike Leake, David Price, Yeonis Cespedes, Geraldo Parra and Ben Zobrist are ineligible to be offered a QO. I do think someone will accept this year. Howie Kendrick or Brett Anderson are possibilities or maybe Asdrubel Cabrera, Colby Rasmus or Denard Span if they are offered a QO.

Is that list entirely black, white, and Asian players? (no latin players?)

I wonder if latin players who are signed young and not in the draft are less likely to make it to free agency ?

Cabrera could get a QO. Cespedes, Cueto, and Parra are ineligible. Could be a down year for latin free agents.

Well Cueto, Cespedes and Parra would be eligible but they were traded midseason, which is against the QO rules.

But still, good observation.

Blue Jays Make Qualifying Offer To Marco Estrada

Uh wow. I didn't even think this was a possibility. I can't believe a team would give a multi year deal and a draft pick for this pile of crap. He's a guy that may accept the offer.

Was actually expecting the Cubs to go after him for rotation depth. He has some good stuff. Just bad results. Still better than Shark. Guess they won't now. However, if he doesn't accept the offer, I would expect the Cubs to possibly pick him up the day after the draft.

25 HRs and can play all 3 OF positions.

I think you are underestimating how much baseball salaries are ballooning. $16M is probably just above market rate for Rasmus. Of course you give him a QO, because he will get a 4/$60M contract from someone, probably.

4-60 seems cheap..I bet he gets more years and money than that... 5-80$

Not bad I only missed two and I wouldn't be surprised if one or both of those turds accept.

A total of 20 players received a Qualifying Offer. It's going to be a busy Hot Stove.

The Nexen Heroes of the Korean Baseball Organization have accepted a posting fee of $12.85M for the right to negotiate with 1B Byung-Ho Park.

I'm guessing Houston or Toronto.

I've heard Pittsburgh as well, but who the MLB mystery team is has gone past the MLB national writers so far.

Supposedly they're down to 5 teams who could win the bid for Park. The Brewers, Reds, Cubs, White Sox and Twins. None of those teams seem like fits so I think someone might be playing possum. Maybe it's the Brewers and they trade Lind? That would be a risky first move for the boy genius. Maybe it's the Sox and they release LaRoche? Hey a guy can dream.

It the Twins. Well that's very surprising. Now they have 3 players (Mauer, Sano Park) for 2 positions(1B, DH). Sano came up as a third baseman but Tommy John surgery and the post game spread eliminated that idea. Maybe they can try him in left but that could get ugly too. No chance they can move Mauer's contract.
