Canucks' Sedins sign four-year contract extensions

The Vancouver Canucks have re-signed Henrik Sedin and Daniel Sedin to matching four-year contracts Friday. Financial terms of the contracts were not released, but multiple media reports valued each contract at $28 million.

The Sedins are in the final season of matching five-year, $30.5 million contracts, and would have become unrestricted free agents in July 2014.

"Daniel and Henrik are exemplary leaders, teammates and humanitarians and we're very pleased to have them as part of our team for the long-term," Canucks general manager Mike Gillis said in a statement announcing the new contracts. "Few players in the history of this club have had more significant roles in contributing to the success of this team and to our community and we look forward to many more years with their positive influence leading the way."
