Looks like the Ducks will win and play the Hawks....

So, Hockey gurus...are the Duck better? What should I be looking for?

Are the big? fast? Skilled? Goalie ?

Need my Bandwagon info!

They're pretty slow compared to the Hawks and they're not going to bully around the Hawks.. Their first line is awesome with Getzlaf and Perry. Frederik Andersen is their goalie, he's solid but nothing that needs to be worried about.

The Hawks are a bad matchup for the Ducks. Whatever they can do the Hawks can do better. We'll see what happens with the Hawks being down a dman with Roszival dying but barring more injuries or a ton of bad breaks, your Chicago Blackhawks are going back to the SCF.

Hawks in 6.

The Ducks are big and physical and mean, but unlike Minnesota and Nashville, not terribly fast. Getzlaf (assists leader) and Perry (points leader) are the one pair of forwards who may be better than Toews and Kane, and they play on one line rather than being split up. Our old friend Ryan Kesler is centering the second line after demanding a trade to Anaheim and only Anaheim, Jakob Silfverberg came over from Ottawa in the Bobby Ryan trade and is only now emerging as a true replacement for Ryan. Andrew Cogliano is a constant pain in the ass, Matt Beleskey is a fourth-liner on a four-game goal streak, and from there it's just a bunch of big idiots -- think the Kings, but with the distribution of talent being very top-heavy.

At defense, Hampus Lindholm is emerging as an elite defenseman, as is Cam Fowler, but Sami Vatanen is ripe for exploitation and the rest of the d-men suck.

Fredrik Andersen is actually the less heralded of Anaheim's two young goalies, with John Gibson apparently set to be a generational talent once he gets started in earnest, but for now Andersen is 7-1 with a 1.96 and .927 in the playoffs, albeit against a Jets team that sprinted to the regular-season finish line and collapsed and a Flames team that isn't really very good. Nothing spectacular about him other than just stopping most of what he sees, as well as stopping goals that cross the goal line.

The Hawks will have their work cut out for them and this series is far from automatic.

I just don't think the Ducks are any good. They rack up points every year playing in a weak division and have pretty much had a bye the first two rounds because of the playoff format. I've said the last two years the Ducks can't beat the Hawks in a best of 7 and nothing has changed for me.

Getzlaf and Perry can get them 2 wins this series and nothing more.

They are, and actually ran a better differential than the Ducks over the regular season, but the way the Ducks have dominated in the playoffs scares me. If Vatanen doesn't DOGPOG with 92 seconds left in Game 3, they're into the third round undefeated -- though again, the Jets were out of gas and the Flames have little to no business being here.

Also, with the exception of this year, Getzlaf and Perry under Boudreau have traditionally spanked the Blackhawks.

Regular season doesn't matter. I know as diehard hockey fans who invest $200 a year on NHL Center Ice we want to believe it means something. It doesn't.

That the Ducks had such a win-small-lose-big tendency over the regular season (though not on the level as the -24 2012 Panthers, good gawd) gave me a ray of hope that the Jets could eke out a win in seven. Then they pretty much dongwhipped the Jets. It sucked. They're almost unbeatable in one-goal situations, so I guess the key is to get up a few goals early and wait for Getzlaf/Perry/Kesler to start being pouty shitheads.

Like what I hear so far.

So Hawk depth should win out?

Exactly right. Real Hockey Gays should know this.

Hawks in 5.

I think so. Our forward depth is vastly superior, and I'm not too concerned about the loss of Rozsival given how terrible he was capable of being. I think Timonen can take on up to ten minutes (it might even be good for him to get stretched out during this long layoff) and the remaining minutes can go to Cumiskey, Rundblad, or maybe even Johns or Paliotta. Talk about jumping into the fire.

I know that Corey Perry will singlehandedly win a game in this series, but the Hawks should take it in 6 or 7. I'm not worried about Kesler. The Hawks owned him in Vancouver.

Friday????

I know they could start Thursday, but guessing the NHL would rather have the Hawks on a Friday night....or they should

I don't believe the Ducks would have beat Minnesota or Nashville...I do not believe they'll beat the Hawks either. I don't wish Roszival the injury he got, but sad as it sounds, his absence just made the Hawks better.

Rodey just reported that game 1 is Sunday, & game 3 at the UC is Thursday. No news on game 2, but its gotta be Tuesday.

Sunday game better be a day game, or at least over before 9. I am not missing the series finale of Mad Men so I can watch that fuckface Corey Perry score bullshit deflection goals on us.

I'm sure the Hawks game will be 2:00 on NBC though. I don't think the NHL schedules Sunday night games in the conference finals. I'm going to miss The Blacklist finale Thursday night, & the Hawks game Sunday. Thank God for DVR.
