hey if white guys can save America no reason they can't save sports too.

Did you see the NBA all star weekend? That's what happens when the white guys aren't in charge.

LeBron pulled himself out about an hour before the games with an injury.

Bad news: McAvoy is out for Thursday. He was amazing vs Canada.

Good news: Quinn Hughes is flying cross country to join the team!

Would've been amazing if we had both of them, but if I had to choose one I'd go with Hughes.

you could be right..i think it's 50-50. usa has the G and D, canada has the FWDs. 3 to 3 there for the positions.

no mcavoy. will hughes play and can he be the difference?

it would hardly be a choke if they lost to Canada. Unless the got pantsed or blew a massive lead.

no hughes for the usa and looks like the canadians are sticking with binnington in goal. game is a pick'em, over/under 5.5.

not having Hughes and MacAvoy is massive blow to the US. the two best d men on the team.

maybe trump will announce the opening face-off starters to the team in the room via speaker phone. this guy is the ultimate provocateur....said he couldn't attend the game due to a governors' meeting - then promptly called trudeau a governor of the 51st state.

I have a feeling the Canucks will win tonight and Bernstein will celebrate like his wife’s company won The Knot Award.

Yeah, the US got owned by the USSR on the ice most other times. But sports don't matter, quality of life does. 8)

Go Kanada, beat those whiny soft American pussies.

Whoops. Apparently there’s more than one person named Toews in hockey. Who knew?

Is that Gene Honda on public address or does it just sound exactly like him?

Hockey may be the easiest sport to get wrapped up in among sports I don’t watch.

Maybe it’s the jingoism. Maybe it’s the political backdrop. Maybe it was Memphis. But it sure felt right until I immediately turned off the TV and pretended the OT goal didn’t happen.

This would have been a wet fart, a cheap ripoff of the World Cup (which itself is a ripoff of the Winter Olympics) had it not been for the United States deciding to needlessly antagonize its largest trading partner/subsidiary.

Needless antagonizing is really terrific. People tell me it's the best, the most beautiful kind, of antagonizing.

i don't know...marner involved with the winning goal. had the winning ot goal against sweden. canadian leaf-centric media excited. this will help him. matthews lost the face-off, lost coverage on macdavid's goal. oh yeah, matthews didn't score one goal in this tournie. so...this will hurt matthews and help marner?? to be fair to matthews, he wasn't and hasn't been 100% healthy for awhile.

watched marner as a blackhawk fan and his contract status. 1) i believe the leafs will resign him and let tavares (35 this september) go. 2) i'm iffy on signing him if the leafs let him walk.
