Bennett gets credit for a goal that shouldn't have counted because the refs decided not to make the most blatant interference call of all time. Oilers respond with two. Good one so far but man the Panthers are insufferable. I dont understand the imperative to give them every break.

Someone's gotta cripple Sam Bennett. Enough of this piece of shit.

Intense series already. None of it is on broadcast TV.

It has been great, been thoroughly entertained.

Think Florida gets this one and evens the series. Probably Marchand with another goal.

Double overtime coming up. I feel like even if the Oilers win this one, it sets up two Panthers blowouts at the outlet mall. Echoes of Winnipeg eking out close wins and losing big, I guess.

Still think the NHL is gonna rig this for the Oilers. They don't want McDavid leaving Canada.

Fantastic hockey through 2 games. This has a chance to be an all-time great finals. Some of the best hockey I've seen since the 2014 WCF.

I thought the Panthers were way too conservative and laid back when the Oilers pulled their goalie.

changes likely in dallas...deboer pulling oettinger after 2 shots/2goals is something i would do out of anger, not a well-respected coach with a world-class reputation.

deBoer was just like "look I'm not saying it's ALL his fault but if you look at the numbers, he sucks against the Oilers." Somewhere, Mike Keenan is like "that's no way to treat your goalie, damn."

EDIT: come to think of it, deBoer basically is Keenan, another miserable prick who repeatedly sets the dressing room on fire and then vine-swings into another head coaching job

yeah, de boer fired...no real surprise. sounds like the players went directly to upper mngt. to complain about de boer's temperament and his game 5 meltdown with oettinger.

as mentioned, de boer reacted like an angry fan...my take is that de boer perceived oettinger as embarrassing him personally and confirming his recent reputation as a conference final loser. apparently, de boer was under much more self-inflicted pressure; adding rantanen to his roster and expecting a stanley cup final, than his players were.

too bad you can't play the 2023-24 blackhawks every year in the western conference finals. you'd be right up there with scotty bowman.

Conference Finalists In Which At Least One Team Didn't Pay State Income Tax:

2015: Tampa Bay
2016: Tampa Bay
2017: Nashville
2018: Las Vegas
2019: n/a
2020: Tampa Bay, Dallas, Las Vegas
2021: Tampa Bay
2022: Tampa Bay
2023: Las Vegas, Florida, Dallas
2024: Florida, Dallas
2025: Florida, Dallas

Are tax breaks the key to success? No. Washington State doesn't have state income tax, but the Kraken are run by morons. But if your organization is, unlike the Kraken, moving in the right direction, a low-pressure location where players can take a little less than market value seems to be worth more than an extra nudge. It makes what the Oilers are doing even more impressive, even on the heels of that wet turd of a goal in sudden death.
