Best play by play guy I've ever heard. I don't get why anyone would not like him.

The game 6 he did tampa vs caps was probably the best play by play hockey I have heard in a very long time.

He is great I agree. Much better than the vanilla Hockey night in canada.

Agreed. It was strikingly obvious in the conference finals when you’d hear the different crews each night. Emerick is great.

Best national guy. Foley will always be my favorite.

John Wiedeman is a great radio play by play.

WLS 890 carried tonight's radio broadcast

I think he’s a bit overloved myself but he’s miles better than anyone else that NBC has for sure .

Driveee! Hit. The. Post. With. The. Shot! Such chaos.

He's awesome.

He is the clear #1 although I love Forsund too. He should be the #2 over Albert who is meh. CH said it best when he once described Albert along the lines of "A guy doing an impersonation of what a play by play guy should sound like". It's a shame Forslund is wasted doing Hurricane games.

The problem with the Emrick/Olczyk/Pierre booth is, well, it's Pierre. But another problem is that it's too much shtick. There's no straight man in the act (I don't know what the requisite Pat Foley joke here is) between Emrick's hyperactivity and tortured prose, Olczyk's STOPITRIGHHERE, and Pierre's, well, everything. And Eddie is somewhat restrained on the national telecasts; if he were his Pat & Eddie self on NBC, it would be a fucking vaudeville act.

Then you have a B-team where it's Gord Miller or John Forslund paired with Joe Micheletti or Brian Boucher, and it's, if not necessarily dull as dishwater, certainly not as wacky as those three get:

"It's been said -- that hockey -- was invented -- by the Mikmak Indians of Nova Scotia in the 18th century. Now Sidney Crosby -- is from Nova Scotia -- and hoping to score his 18th goal of the season. And so we go to overtime. Because there is only one puck on the ice at any given moment. And now it can only go into one goal once. And in -- it will have -- to go."
"DOC YOU KNOW WHAT ELSE HAS TO HAPPEN IS KRIS LETANG HAS TO WORK THE BODY LIKE ONLY HE CAN"

I like Pierre. Always have. His passion for the game is clear. My favorite Pierre moment is when he was excited to tell us where Dan Clearly played juniors in the series vs the Hawks in 13. He had already been a pro for 15-16 years. I was watching it at a friend's house laughing my ass off and no one knew why.

Pierre McGuire, the worst NHL coach of all time, and Mike Milbury, the worst NHL general manager of all time, should not be the premier analysts of the league.

NHL NBC team is probably fine for casual fans. Maybe the hardcore guys don't like them but I think they do their job good. Like I didnt even know Pierre and Milbury had real coaching and gm jobs until just now from CH.

McGuire coached two-thirds of a season with the Whalers in the mid-'90s and all he did was brag about how smart his line-matching was while teams beat the shit out of the Whalers. When he got fired, the players said it was the best thing that ever could have happened to them. Then the team got sold to a guy from Detroit and he moved it to Raleigh because the NHL sucks.

Mike Milbury turned the New York Islanders, one of the proudest organizations in the league, into such an unmitigated disaster that some 15 years later they still haven't fully recovered. He is unfit to speak to anyone involved in the NHL, let alone speak about them.
