Can't give them crap about the 19,88 deals...they thought the cap would go up and Toews would maintain his performance. Let's not forget the bargain deal they had Keith under for his prime. Seabrook is the bad deal.

Simply put- The deals, particularly Toews, have not worked out. Bowman miscalculated the cap and Toews let his game slip to the point where he is 3-4 million overpaid. They might have been unlucky with their timing but ultimately they are judged on the results.

Like I said, the under the market Keith received has at least lessened the impact of Toews' contract during the Cup years. Now Toews' production the last 2 years, coupled with Keith's slight decline, has made that contract bad. I will give Stan a ton of crap for Seabrook because he is in decline and it is a cap-killer.

At the time, nobody (except maybe CH) believed the Toews' contract was bad; Kane has played up to his contract and we got 2 more Cups out of it. I'll take it.

Toronto/Dallas had so much talent on display last night.

Remember Marko Dano? came over in the first Saad trade, high hopes for him, never panned out, got sent to Winnipeg in the Andrew Ladd trade that also didn't pan out? Just went on waivers today, but I have a feeling one more team is going to take a chance on The Marko Dano Project before he can clear to the Moose. Ottawa, I am staring at you right now.

I remember my first burn: Petri Kontiola. He got depression from playing in Rockford and was a total bust: went back to Finland and only a year or two ago attempted a comeback with Toronto, which failed. Michael Frolik wasn't a bust, but I thought the sky was the limit with him and the limit turned out to be "really kick-ass fourth liner when the salary cap sorta doesn't count," for us, at least. He's been a decent complementary scorer for the Jets and Flames, but the hype was Baby Jagr. Never trust Europeans, and never ever ever trust Panthers prospects.
